im not sure if this is common everywhere but here in southern california, i always get these small yellow droppings on my car. they look too small to be bird droppings, so im thinking they come from insects. does anyone know what (if any) bugs poop yellow?

dude, I know what you mean. I too live in LA and see those yellow dots on my cars.
I don't know exactly what they are, but they do come off easily when touch.
I kind of describe it like mustard plant.
like a bee or insect falling off its pollen while flying.
maybe its more common here in LA.
maybe from certain plants or trees.

I get that problem daily, especially during sunny hot days. If these mustard-look-alike droplets dry under the sun, it'll etch into the paint. Though damage is not that much but it's very irritating.

so should we conclude that this is indeed bee poop?

fgraciano1980, I used to think it was from plants or trees until one day I saw a bee flying around my garden. And that's when I found the fresh mustard-look-alike droplets all over my car (more than 20). May I know do you use M82 with rotary buffer or DA machine?

By looking at your avatar, I'm assuming you're driving a Honda. And yes, Honda's paint is so soft. My clearcoat is also very soft, I always use M82/W-9006/DA as for the last step before LSP. The only advantage of having a soft paint is that defects are removed easily. However, it's very poor in chemical resistance and also I feel moisture easily penetrates into the paint and cause blisters (especially in countries with high humidity). Maybe we could take a photo of the mustard-look-alike droplets the next time we encounter it, then we compare it. If it's the same, maybe it can be concluded that it's bee poop.

My ride is Chrome Yellow and attracts lots of bugs especially bees and ladybugs. I usually have to Speed Detail it at least two times when I leave it outside all day. It is very important that you clean it off otherwise it will leave a stain after a while.
