So I got this Color X

I grabbed a bottle of color X, and plan on using it on my detail routine this week.

Thing is, I am unsure on how I should go about using it. My plans for it were to remove some cobwebbing that has occured on my finish.

The cobwebbing is light, just to note that.

Will I use the product just like a wax in order to remove the swirls? I plan on using a Meguiar's Even Coat applicator and removing with a Meguiar's Micofiber cloth. Should I use a foam pad for application instead?

Will I apply it the same as a wax? Or should I work the product in, just like scratchX?

Well, ColorX wont remove swirls/scratches as well as ScratchX, but it is good to try milder products first.

You will want to work the product in well, using the Even Coat, or even a piece of terry cloth, to give it a little more agresiveness.

I used ColorX for the first time yesterday and the results blew me away for an all-in-one type product. I worked the product in quite a bit using an even-coat applicator. Once I buffed off with a microfiber I could tell where I didn't work it in as much as other places so I'll be a 2nd coat ASAP. Some places weren't as glossy as others so I assumed that's where I didn't work it in enough to remove the oxidation.

This was on my in-laws heavily oxidized minivan. I just kept saying, "this poor van, it deserves better." I was rushed so I used ColorX not knowing what the results would be; but man, it was AWESOME! I told them to give it to me for more than 1.5 hours so I could do a more thorough job.

ColorX is real good stuff, though for the heaviest oxidation, ScratchX will still remove more by hand. If those dull spots are too stubborn, may need to try ScratchX first.

My finish is really brilliant, actually, with no sign of oxidation.

My car is a black 05 Toyota camry, with light cobwebbing effect, similar to this picture of a bmw:

Color X is the best all in one product that I have ever used. Easy to apply and remove.

On your finish if you work it in with an even coat applicator, it will help your finish but don't expect it to remove all of the micro-marring. I'm with Murr. You would be better off using Scratch X by hand to remove the spiderwebbing. Then polish and wax.

It all depends on how much time you want to spend, and how you want your car to look. Color X is an excellent product, but it is not a miracle product.

Yeah, you can try ColorX first, but ScratchX might be more affective on those cobwebs.

Yeah, i know scratchX would do a better job, but it's so time consuming.

I think that i will work in color X a little bit during the next few months upon every detail routine. Over time, I have a feeling the car's appearance will improve.

i could be mistaken but i think color x is equal to scratch x then only diff. is scratch x is used by hand and color x can be used by DA .....
but i am aware other have used scratch x with da and they had no problem plus the colorx by hand.....just a thought

Close but there is a major difference,

ScratchX is a dedicated paint cleaner.
ColorX is a strong cleaner/wax

After using ScratchX you'll need to apply a wax for protection as ScratchX contains no substantial protection ingredients. ColorX is a paint cleaner, polish and blended wax all mixed together, it can be used by itself and after wipe-off you're done.

Just got through. Dissapointed with my results, but it was all because of technique.

I used a water magnet for the first time. I think I expected too much of it, because when I took the car out into the sunlight, there were water streaks everywhere. Seeing no harm in the streaks, I got to applying the colorX.

It may be all in my head, but after the process, I think I came out with more swirls than I had before. Again, I blame it all on technique, not on the products.

I used Color X on this old, neglected Jimmy Blazer. 1st used DACP and 8006 pad to remove oxidation followed by Color X on 9006 pad.

Remarkable stuff and the products lasts 2+ months. In this case, the Jimmy was parked for approx. 4 months and it still shows a nice shine.
