I always use #80 with my PC... but it is a GREAT product! I have also had some very good luck with it.

Works good for me too!! Works good with my 7" orbital. After applying I wipe it off with a MF towel. Stiil "old school" but starting to change

Most of the cars I have been playing with have come to me pretty scratched up. I don't quite have the experience yet to be able to confidently look at a finish and evalualte which product as best to start with. So #80 tends to be my goto product. On several vehicles I just washed then clayed then ran #80 over it with the intention of not really even putting any though into what else might be needed until after applying the #80.

I am sure with more experience I will be better able to say "Hmm, need a fine cut here or #83 there. But for now, #80 cleans things up, gets the minor junk outta the way, and let's me better judge which direction to go in.

That sound like what I'm doing now. Wash, clay, 80 and go from there. BTW wifes car is white also. Had good luck with DCS. Just hard to get a reflection on white.

I don't understand what the #80 is, even though I keep reading about it. Can it be used by hand or is it for machine ? How abrasive is it ?
I clayed my black car weeks ago and got fine scratches all over the finish that appears to have dulled it, especially in sunlight. You can't see them in shade or garage. I tried scratchX and #9 swirl remover and even used a finishing polish before applying NXT yesterday. But in the sun I can still see lots of fine scratches that make it look dull. Should I try this #80 ?

#80 is a cleaner/polish, similar to #9 but more aggressive. They both can remove contaminants and surface defects and at the same time they have polishing oils to add depth and richness.

Note the aggressiveness scale on the bottles. #9 is rated at 3 while #80 rates at 4. Those are only approximations. I find that in practice, for me anyway, #80 is much more aggressive than #9.

If you're working by hand and not getting the results you want with ScratchX I don't think you'll get anywhere with #80 by hand either. You'd probably do better with more applications of ScratchX and more elbow grease, uh, excuse me, I mean passion. Otherwise, it may be time to step up to a machine.
