  • Getting rid of "etchings" om vinyl

    Hello,

I brought a used car and the previous owner did not take very good care of it. The plastic/vinyl below the front bumper is Silver in color and has been etched due to tar, bugs, bird droppings, etc. I have cleaned it the best I can with soap and water but how can I get rid of these "etchings." Can I use Scratch X or is it only for painted surfaces? Thanks for any advice.

Just so you know, I'm going to move your post as this is a forum for learning how to register, not get answers about etchings on vinyl.

The correct forum for a question like this would be the Detailing 101 forum.

    Thanks!

Is this silver component painted plastic?

If so then yes you can use ScratchX. If it is in face a peice of silver plastic or vinyl then there's probably not much you can do because these types of materials don't lend themselves to abrading very well.
