  • 83, 80 or 9???

    Hi all,

what would be best for removing (and not making!!) the finest/lightest of swirl marks/marring??

    No. 83, 80 or 9

Also, what method of application (i.e. rotary, and what speeds, pad etc)

Trying to remove light swirls, that seem to be instilled by the products. just cant get a perfect finish. its 99.9%, but not 100%

Do you have the above pads available to you in Australia?

What kind of machines do you have available?

Try #9 with either a W-8006 or W-9006 foam pad using a dual action polisher on the 4.5 to 5.0 setting. Work a small section at at a time and overlap your passes. When you move to a new section, overlap the previous section.

      Hi Mike,

Yes i have a W8006 and access to number 9. the only thing is that i do not have a PC, but i do have both a rotary buffer (min 1000rpm) and a Random Orbital sander (variable speed).

After your last rotary step, with you're lightest cleaner/polish and foam pad, re-polish each panel with the #9 and either a W-8006 or a W-9006 pad. Use the least aggressive pad to get the job done. That means, do a test spot with the W-9006 pad and see if this pad and #9 on your Random Orbital Sander will remove the swirls.

Test by inspecting with a mixture of 50/50 Isopropyl Alcohol to water in a spray bottle and then inspect your results in bright light.
