? on Plastix

I have been working on getting my truck all prepped up for winter. Have 2 coats of #20 topped with 1 of #21 on it. Trimmed out all the Black Plastic with Gold Class Trim Detailer. Also Used the Vinyl/Rubber Protectant on all the rubber.

I was thinking about running Plastix on all the Light Lenses. There are currently flawless and have no stains or scratches. I was thinking Plastix for it's protection capabiity.

I have not used Plastix on anything yet except for extremely hazed lenses. If I apply it with an even coat applicator, with light rubbing, will I caused myself any self induced hazing due to light scratches?

Just wanted to make sure before I ran with it.

Hi Jeff,

PlastX is non-abrasive, so if you want to apply a light coat that would be perfectly fine but just for fun I'm going to check and see if there might be better alternative since you plastic is brand new and PlastX is a cleaner/polish.

I had thought about just a coat or 2 of #20 but figured I would post first.

I always wipe some Nxt gently over my head and tail lights. Never had a problem yet. Lights havent got marked yet, so havent tried PlastX yet on them.

If your plastic is in excellent condition you can use M-10 to polish to a high gloss, then use M-18 on a weekly or monthly basis to keep your plastic looking brand new.

I have not picked up either of those products yet. Mighthave to look at them for my next order.

Hi Fellas,

If i could make a suggestion try Plexus Plastic Polish i use this on my Motorcycle and it work great especailly since you have a good scratch free lens....just a thought...

I recomend you try the #10, and 17, i have a 2002 TrailBlazer and i only use that product and the lense still clear.
I try to attach a picture with no success, but you can see them on the members and search for "chevy fever" you will see them there. I use them in all the club cars that i'm involved with excelent results, and more are coming to get their lenses clean with Meguiars 10, and 17.
I use them in my rear lights to.

Huh? PlastX is non-abrasive (news to me), but is a cleaner/polish? If it is non-abrasive, wouldn't it be perfect to maintain new plastic? Is there a typo here or am I just misunderstanding?

Thanks for all the replies folks. I decided to smear some #20 on them. They did not need polishing yet.

I'll order some of these other products next go-around. Maybe after winter I'll start treating with some of the products you folks suggested.

I am trying to make sure I have a protective coating on everything. All I have left is the black plastic inside my front grill. I have the product. It's just going to take a while to get it good and clean and potected. I might start a new thread before I begin to see how other folks set out to clean black plastic grills with lots of holes to small for their fingers.

Plastic X contains Microscopic Diminishing Abrasive Technology(MDAT) which will break down as you use them....also contains highly water-resistant polymers.....

so i am assume if you just put a lite thin coat of it you will be able to use it as Lens Protector almost like wax

but if you work the product (elbow grease) you will remove fine scratches and light oxidation for example....

please correct me should i have misinformation.....

I am pretty sure you are correct. My Ridgeline is only 5 months old and I have kept it up pretty well. There wasn't even a water mark on the lenses. So I did not want to put anything abrasive on it at all. Chemical cleaners were about as aggressive as I wanted to go.

Thanks Djmigs, that's what I thought, I was just confused by Mike's assertion that PlastX was non-abrasive.
