The best tape i've ever used which goes on easy and comes off even easier is the 3M Blue WIDE tape. It's the stuff we use at track events to protect headlights, bumpers, and side skirts from errant rock chips and if one of unfortunately ends up in the dirt off the side of the track at high speed.
Here is a prime example of the stuff protecting a Lotus Elise at Spring Mountain Raceway.
