  • Just got an Acura TSX - HELPPPP

Hey guys. First post here. I just bought a TSX and also have a CRV and Civic. My plan is to keep TSX in ultimately new condition and try an restore the other 2.

My plan is to purchase the 3 step process plus the Quick Clay and Gold Car Wash.
Do I really need to use the Clay and Paint Cleaner on the new TSX (1 wk old) ????

I also purchased a Vector Power Waxer from Pep Boys for 15 bucks on sale. I know its a Piece of Sh** but is it better than doing it all by hand???

Also is there a way I can get a discount on Meguairs E-Store when it asks u to put a promo code> I would really like a promo code if anyone has one. THanks guys

i dont really trust the bonnets that come w/ those crappy orbitals to do a wax job..... to apply scratchX maybe....

anyways since ur cars new..... u might be able to skip clay if theres no rail dust or contaminants that land on surface during shipping...... just feel if the surface is smooth after u wash the car.....

then after you washed use deep crystal 1 and 2..... then use either gold class, or nxt or hi tech yellow..... u can buy all 3 and see which one looks the best to you..... nxt gives most reflectiveness..... and gold class is more on the buttery richness.... hi tech yellow ive never tried but heard good stuff about it.....

The paint cleaner will remove surface contaminates that are pretty much laying on the top of the paint. Unless you work it in REAL hard, then it might get into the paint and pull out most things.

The clay is geared more towards thing that are "in" the paint and not easily removed.

I'm sure you'll get a more in depth response but in short use both and you'll have better results!

You'll be suprised how much stuff the clay takes off the new car!

I never noticed the promo code space so I can't help.

i thought it was the opposite... clay is for on top contaminants and cleaner is for imbedded contaminants.....

First, Clay removes contaminants on the paint. Cleaners remove dirt down in the paint.

For a new car, claying is one of the best things you can do. Using clay and a paint cleaner will ensure you are starting off with a perfect surface. Your car may be new, but it hasnt been sitting in some sealed container. It has been out and about, getting **** on it. So make sure you start with a good surface.

Products I would buy are: Quick CLay, DC#1, DC#2, ColorX, and a wax of yoru choice. Either DC#3, or Nxt, Gold Class, #26, etc.

Claying and ColorX worked in well will be a great start to restoring the older vehicles, then continuing with the 5-step system after that.

I would save the $15 and put it towards a PC. If yo uare goingot be serious about detailing, nothing will beat those results. A **** machine isnt going to produce fantastic results.

              For your TSX:
If you wash your car every week, then you only need to use the clay the first time as subsequent washing will prevent some of the build up of contaminants. Of course larger contaminants such as brake dust, rail dust, road tar cannot be avoided and should be taken off with the clay.

I really recommend you to also apply the Deep Crystal Step #2 and a wax after that. Synthetic or carnauba, that's your choice. It may sound like a lot of work, but the good news is that you only need to do it once, and then only repeat when it gets contaminated. You must maintain the layer of wax though!

As I had posted in another thread, do this the first time:
              1) Wash
              2) Clay
              3) Wash (if you want. I would just wipe down with QD since it is still new and clean)
              4) DC #1 paint cleaner
              5) DC #2 polish
              6) Wax (I use Meg's #21 but you can use your DC #3 or NXT, which lasts longer)

After that, make sure you wash every week and that's enough. Every 2-3 weeks, wax with NXT again to maintain the wax. Any bird **** should be removed ASAP! Keep a good spray bottle with water in your car. Get a good one because a cheap spray bottle will leak!

You only need to repeat that long process every 6 months.

BTW, ScratchX will rip the bonnet off your polisher. I've tried it. hehe

For your Civic and CR-V, ColorX as the others recommended.
