  • New Car ... want to get serious this time

Hey guys.... well it is time for me to get serious about surface care on my new car... bought a week ago. I go nuts on my boats finish using 100% Meguiars.... which produces some amazing results (baby butt smooth). I bought my Lexus 1 week ago... and thought what better time to start than when it is new.

I would appreciate some feedback for the many experts here regarding the product list I should obtain. I own a PC 7424 DA Polisher... and would like to know what Meguiars Pad, polish, wax, etc combos I should be using. I would like to maintain an amazing finish all of the time... so please hit me hard with the details.

I appreciate all of the data you folks can provide.

Vehicle: 06 Lexus ES 330 Paint is in perfect condition (no swirls scratches that I can see.... as it should be.)

          There are tons of possibilities....

The Deep crystal system really will provide good results both the paint cleaner and polish work very well. Easy to find and easy to use either by hand or with PC. As for a wax NXT Generation Tech Wax looks very good on dark colors and its the wax I reach for every time. 2 thin coats, the second coat is well worth it!

Maybe you want to step up a little another great pure polish that I use all the time is #81 Hand Polish. You can use it with your PC even thought it says hand polish. Very easy to use and provides great results. You could use this in place of the deep crystal polish.

That is just one idea, I am sure other will chime in with some thoughts. Let us know how it works out.

As gb387 said, there are tons of possibilities... but in general...

To work by PC, you would need:
            1. Wash: Use a high quality wash, with 2 bucket system and a grit guard or two... Grit Guard is fantastic, definately get one at least.

            2. Clay: Even on a clean car, use Quick CLay. Makes a huge difference.

            3. Clean/Polish: #80 is the general use product, for paint care. Removes minor defects, without removing much paint.

            4. Wax: #21, or Nxt Liquid Wasx are excellent as wax.

            5. Plus Nxt Metal Polish, several tire prodicts, and wheel cleaners are available..

Now, there are many more options, so let us know if you have any other concerns...

Everyone.. thanks for your great suggestions... question in regard to wheels I have been cleaning with the gold class wash and water.... and it seems to working very well... I am using the Meguiars Ultra-Safe Wheel Spoke Brush (great great tool.... allows to clean the entire inside of the wheel) and a Deep Pile Chenille Wash Mitt for the exterior surfaces (one mitt specifically for the wheels). Is there any harm to simply washing with the gold class soap in lieu of a wheel specific cleaner such as hot rims? Any thoughts appreciated.

There is no problem at all. Sometimes mild soap is not strong enough to get off the brake dust, and other crud. This is why stonger and speacialised cleaners can be needed.

What sort of wheels do you have? You may find that claying your wheels is helpfull as well. Clay you paint first, then glass/trim, then wheels.

Murr1525.... thanks... I am washing once a week or more often... so the brake dust has little time to cake up :-)
