  • Help my car looks like this...

Hello everyone I am new to this forum, however I been using meguiars product for a very long time but still my car looks like this bunch of scratch marks and swirls what can I do to get it looking like what joe did? Please see the thread below:

I recieved an email from a MOL member. He had a freshly repainted black Honda Civic that was swirled and buffer trailed really bad. Here is the picture he sent me via email --

I dont know what I should start off with? Can someone tell me the steps to achieve that work of art that Joe did?

    Any suggestion/help is appreciated!!

Well, one basic question will be did you plan on working by hand, or investing in a PC. To do what Joe did by hand would be extremely difficult, though we can recomend products for it. Fixing by PC would be easier, though cost a fair bit more.

    EDIT:
Also, what products/techniques have you been using so far?

I am definitely investing in a PC. There are a lot of scratches and spider marks that will take a very long time to take out by hand.

Well, even delicate washings will eventualy instill swirls. And oddly enough, dirt often hides swirls. You can clean your car and it will actualy look worse.

For the PC, remember you will want at least one pad per product (1, or 1 and a spare), and 2 or so cloths or bonnets to remove each product.

Your 2 major products with a PC will be:

          #80 (mild cleaner/polish)

          #83 (stonger cleaner/polish)

You will also want a wax, possible #21 (polymer), #26, (carnuba blend), or Nxt liquid in the consumer line.

So, that would look like this: (# Needed)

          1 - PC
          4 - 8006 Polishing Pads
          2 - 9006 Finishing Pads
6 - Supreme Shine Micofibers (assuming removal by hand)
          1 - #83
          1 - #80
          1 - #21

On top of that, you also want to make sure you washing steps are as gentle as possible. Always use the 2 bucket method to wash. Also, after washing, be sure to clay the cars finish. Other products to look into:

          - Next Tech wash or Gold Class Wash
          - Grit Guard (2 is possible)
          - Chenille Wash mit
          - several Water Magnet Drying Towels
          - Quick Clay System

I am sure I missed a pile of stuff, including metal polishes, windows, tires, wheels, trim, interior protecants, etc..

Just make it easy and buy everything like the rest of us.
