I don't suppose I could get you to sell this to me, or make me a copy?

This was written by Bill Stewart, the gentleman who owns the Absorber Company and Bill was one of 11 Regional Distributors for Meguiar's. Bill is also an accomplished craftsman when it comes to polishing paint and a weekend race car driver.

I have a later copy of the booklet you reference printed in 1989 and I must say that when I first went to work for Meguiar's I found his information very insightful as well as helpful.

Just to add into how the polishing oils may affect the surface coat and basecoats..

It seems you are dealing with diffusion, and other mass transport ideas here. You are dealing with a liquid diffusing into a solid, like water diffusing into a cement block. Sure some water diffuses in, but no measurable amount past the surface.

Another idea that may be applicable is concentration driving forces. If something is at high concentration, it will diffuse to an area lower concentrations. This by keeping polishing oils on the surface of the paint, the oils down in the base and clear coat never have the oppurtunity to move to a lower concentration, thus protecting the whole coat of paint.

Just my 2 cents.. dont kill me if I'm wrong

True, but one thing that I think we can all agree on is that Meguiar's T. S. oils are beneficial to the health and longevity of the paint, as well as imparting a show car shine that is second to none.....Regardless of how they work.

In the mean time, I will try to brush up on your polish articles and read them a little more in-depth......Your article on #7 is a great piece of writing to say the least.

Any idea where I could look at the article that Mike wrote. It sounds like required reading.
