  • using megs #7 glaze, have a question

    Hi,
I know this quesiton has been asked before, i did read up on it alot on this forum but had a question about sealants and the galze. I know that glaze is stricly a prodcut used before car shows to enhance the paint and has not lasting properties. But here is the question

SInce i use sealants, like klasse, zaino etc, and i already have built up layers on my car. When i go to apply another layer of sealant do i apply the glaze AFTER the sealant has been applied of BEFORE?

If i apply it BEFORE i apply the sealant will this stop it(the sealant) from bonding to the previous layers of sealant?
Or would it be better just to apply it after ive put on the sealant

    thanks again..

Meguiar's doesn't subscribe to the idea that you can build up layers of wax. 1, 2, maybe 3 coats of wax during any one detailing session to insure uniform appearance and uniform protection, but after that you're wasting product.

Sal Zaino and Zaino users say that the surface has to be squeaky clean in order for the Zaino polymers to adhere or bond to the surface. I'm not sure what the Klasse company says about the Klasse SG, but it works more or less like Elmer's glue so if you apply some over a finish with #7 on it I would say from my experience the Klasse SG would stick to the surface/paint.

Here are some links to read, Meguiar's paint protectants will bond and adhere over our polishes with no problems.

    What's the Deal with "Layering"?

Yeah, if you want to use #7 I'd follow it with either Meguiar's products or at least a carnauba-based "straight wax".

I never use products like #7 in conjunction with sealants from other makers. IMO it's truly an either/or thing, completely different approaches.

If you have the layers built up I would not apply #7 to them lest it possibly compromise the existing LSP. Not saying it would, but I wouldn't risk it. Not sure why you'd want to do it anyhow unless you're unhappy with how it looks, and even then I wouldn't try applying #7 as a solution.

And I'd need a pretty good reason to remove all those layers once they were applied
