Just tried NXT - Doesn't seem to wipe off

I just tried the NXT on my C6. I have used the gold class until now. I can't seem to get this stuff off, it looks all greasy and even when I rub and rub it just smears.

I put it on with the pad, waited an hour to dry in the garage. Then removed with an orbital with a terry cloth pad then hit the areas that I couldn't get to with a rag.

I have never had this problem with any wax. Just smears and makes smudges. What did I do wrong. The car is new. I dawn'd the car before and wiped dry.

I've found this problem too,

I just wipe it first to get rid of the haze. Then I wait about another hour to get the smeary look off.

Its not like my towling is clogged, becasue it still does it even on a brand new microfiber.

Any other solutions to this problem?

Hi there. Welcome to the board.

When you used the buffer and terry pad, was the terry pad able to be removed and turned over, or even replaced anytime during removal of wax. I've had similar problems with NXT if I don't turn the buffer bonnet (pad) or towel often enough.

Another problem I've encountered was using to thick of a coat of product. Thinner seemed to work better. I've had to wait several hours to remove the remainder of product when I applied the coat of product to thick.

How's the humidity in your neck of the woods. High humidity might require a little longer dry time.

I've even had this situation with the paint properly prepped (chem cleaned and polished)

It might be too thick. Might have to wait overnight to get it to dry. That is the only thing I can think of that makes sense.

I wouldn't think so.

Next time you wash the car should remove the residue. If the car has not be driven since you waxed it, then it should be safe to use a quick detailer and towel to remove the any dust and residual wax.

No reason to do that. You just need to fix the areas that are smearing. You can then apply a second thin coat to the complete vehicle. That is what you want to do anyway, two thin applications are better than one.

Some options to try.

Make sure that no dust or grit gets attached to area were the NXT has not been removed.

If you have some quick detailer you can use that to clean up the areas were you have a problem, then apply another coat of NXT to that area.

I have also used a clean applicator with more NXT to fix the area were it is smearing. Apply a thin coat of NXT to the area were the smearing is, work it a little more than normal, allow to dry and remove. Like will dissolve like and should help with the problem.

Maybe it has something to do with using the Dawn to wash your rig. It strips all the oils out of the paint. Try using some DC2 before the NXT and see if it makes removal easier. Just a thought anyway.

I would put money on it that you are applying it too thick. Apply it so that there is barely a film on the surface.

offtopic: your suppose to leave the wax on for an hour after applying??? i usally apply #26 wax and use the PC to buff it and wipe it off.

You are supposed to leave the wax on the finish long enough for it to set up. Can be anywhere from 10 minutes to 30 minutes, depends on weather. Just perform the swipe test: swipe test how to

Yeah im sure its too thick how do I get it off?!

It's not a matter of getting it off as I don't think that's what you want to do.....if your car is dark colored (which I'm assuming it is) like mine, mine is black, this happened to me the very first time I used NXT and I was soooo bummed...brand new car and wax job looked all blotchy.....the advice I was given was to use some detailer and the blotches would go away which they do...I think the BIGGEST thing here is trying to put on a very very thin coat...I've waxed mine three times now in 5 months and each time I get better and putting on a thin coat....you do have to let it dry well so use that swipe test to make sure it's dry before you remove it...you'll be fine, just takes practice...

I am surprised that there is even a post about NXT not wiping off clean. I think NXT's greatest strength is how easily it wipes off. I have had zero problems with it, however I have only used it once. I thought it wiped off way, way easier than any other wax I had used in my life up to that point. That's what made me fall in love with NXT other than the fact it gives and incredible deep shine.

I used a rotary buffer and it did go on pretty thin, but the results were just beyond amazing. The humidity was somewhere around 80% that day. But I did let it dry for about 30 minutes. Waxed it, ate dinner then came back and wiped it off.
