  • ColorX Vs Colour Boost Car Wax

    Hi Guys,

Just found out over the weekend that my girlfriend's car has oxidation on her Green Mazda 121. I've already read the post on the Bronco Extreme Makeover so I'm confident on taking on this simple task. Problem is, we don't have ColorX in Australia (yet) but we have Colour Boost Car Wax. Does this product function the same as ColorX? If not, what product could I use instead? Thanks in advance!

    Is ColorBoost a Meguiars Product?

ColorX is a strong cleaner wax... you could try something like #6 in the professional line if you can find it. It is the professional cleaner wax, and actualy a little stonger if worked in well. You could clay and use one of them.

If you cant find Pro products, then Clay, ScratchX or DC#1, DC#2 Polish and a wax may have to be the best answer. You can try the conumer cleaner wax as well, though it is pretty mild like DC#1.

Remember, the foam applicator pads are a bit milder, and terry cloth is a bit more agressive. So when working with a cleaner, you may want to use terry cloth as well, esp. if you end up with a milder cleaner.

I will have to ask about the cleaning ability of Color Boost, but I'm pretty sure it's not as strong as ColorX. It does have some cleaning ability however. You might want to use a dedicated paint cleaner first, like ScratchX, then go to Color Boost for best results.

It never ceases to amaze me how quick people reply to these forums. I'll give your suggestions a go. Thanks heaps!

It really sux how I read the posts and the groovy products but when I check if we have it down under, it bursts the bubble when some of the products ain't here. Here's our product line: Product Line for Meguiars Australia . Any chance that meguiars would change their mind with the e-store in terms of international deliveries? *fingers crossed*

I'm pretty sure that Colour Boost is the AUS version of ColorX. And yes there are a number of products that we don't get here in AUS (trust me I have tried with Meg's in Sydney).

I would try that Meguiars Colour Boost, it's packeding is almost identical to ColorX.

That's what I thought of originally but then thought despite the similarities in packaging, the chemical strength could be different between the two products. If anyone has used both products and found they both do the same job, then I wouldn't hesitate to get some.
