Hello fellow Meguiars users. Has anyone had experience working with Fleet Finishes like Sikkens BT or Imron Elite b/c. I have a couple of scratches to buff out of our E-1 rescue truck finished with Sikkens BT. I was thinking M105 and possibly a maroon pad due to hardness of the finish then stepping up thru the refinement process. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi LT, I think it is just a matter of performing a test spot and seeing how the paint responds to any particular process.Nick Winn

Fleet finishes like Sikkens BT are designed for durability, so they can be harder than standard automotive clear coats. Your approach with M105 and a maroon pad is a solid start for correction, but if the scratches are deep, you may need a more aggressive wool pad or even Meguiar’s M100 for extra cutting power. After correction, stepping down to M205 or a similar fine polish will bring back the gloss. One thing to keep in mind with fleet paints is that they often have a thicker clear but higher resistance to heat buildup, so work in smaller sections and check the surface temperature frequently. Hope that helps!
