  • NXT Metal Polish on Chrome Wheels

I finally received my NXT Metal Polish about a week ago. I have Chrome wheels, about 2 months old that I have kept pretty much flawless through the use of NXT WAX and Speed Detailer.

Last week, I clayed the wheels in preparation for a fresh coat of wax but stopped short of waxing after receiving the Metal Polish as I was not sure if I should apply the polish or not.

So there is my query. Should I apply NXT polish on brand new Chrome wheels or should I just skip it and go straight back to the wax for now?

Go right for the NXT metal polish, you WILL be very happy! I always apply it to customers chromeys, new or old. When my friend bought 20 inch chromes rims for his ranger, I gave him some of my nxt metal polish, it made them look nice enough for him to buy his own.

Sounds good then. I just did not want to polish them needlessly and thin out any possible coating on them.

      Thanks

Strong in its cleaning ability, but not so abrasive that it will wear the chrome down to the nickle layer, even with frequent use.

My problem is I am unsure if these wheels have any coating or not. I might have to stop by the shop where I purchased them and ask.

I don't know what I am looking at but I have noticed that under certaining lighting conditions the Chrome almost takes on a slight golden hue. I was suspecting this might be some sort of coating but am unsure. Need to find this out just for furture purposes

I find it funny how NXT All Metal Polysh is spelled with a Y instead of an I, unless polysh meant something else. Also, that it says:

NXT Generation All Metal Polysh cleans, polishes, and protect all wheels, stainless steel exhausts, chrome air intakes and valve covers, aluminum, brass, copper, silver and all other bright work components. Meguiar’s Microscopic Diminishing Abrasive Technology (MDAT) removes built-up oxidation, tarnishing, and staining faster and safer than traditional harsh abrasives. Anti-corrosive technology locks in the shine. Use a High Tech Applicator Pad or Even Coat Applicator to apply and remove residue with an Ultra Plush Super Terry or Supreme Shine Microfiber.

So, it protects all wheels, but necessarily isnt safe on all wheels?

That's my question, is it actually safe for all wheels? I just picked up a set of rims and have no clue what they are made of and what kind coatings, if any, that they have. They are stock OEM Buick rims and have heard a few tips of trying to figure out what their material is. Such as using a magnet and what not.

I am very concerned about using a product like NXT All-Metal Polysh where it says that it's safe on all metals but you just never know. Just like how the Black Magic All Wheel Cleaner went to town on LnkPrkSoldier's rims.

Sure I trust Meguiars a lot more then I would ever trust Black Magic, but I just would rather be safe then sorry.

Call Customer Care at 1-800-347-5700 tomorrow and they can help you figure out what you have for rims or a coating on your rims and then help you to choose the right products to use on them.

If they are painted, you can always use our paint care products.

I have a buddy I just invited over next week to detail hm up. He has Chrome Rims but they are extremely scratched up. I am sure NXT Metal Polish can handle the job but it is going to take alot of work.

Does Meg's have something I can use with the DA. Or a more agressive hand application product?

I am willing to run with the Metal Polish but I can see it will be a chore.

How about the Detailer line Polish? More Agressive?

i Just order Nxt Metal Polysh....
i should receive it next week.....
i understand you can use it for almost any metal rims....but most of you have commented on chrome rims....im curious if any of you have polished rims....i have some rims that were highly polished last year but am afraid to admit they were not protected and were neglected.....until i converted....i wondering if nxt is like another brand i wont mention but does start with an M and is a red can and white lid they also sell clay.....reason i bring them up i have used them in the past with no problem but it never did bring out a high luster plus does it work when apply like it...also any suggestion for polish my rims other then taking them back to the shop i had the polished it out for me...
someone suggest one Rouge and a buffer wheel for a drill...

by the way i now know you can clay the rims, but is nxt just a polish or a two step polish/wax....if not what wax do you use...

                          thanks Fellas.....

I am using it on chrome and can't comment on use on polished.

As far as the later part of your query, Mike P touched on this in the following thread:

General Auto Detailing Discussion. Participate in existing discussion or start a new thread with your question.

If you will look through the thread, you will see I am conducting a little experiment. Thus far my favorite is still the wheel with the NXT Metal Polish topped with #7 then #20. Somehow I was able to retain the wet look. Plus, now I am able to easily keep up on it by using NXT Speed detailer and my wheels are very well protected. I have not gotten around to bringing all the rest of them up to speed with the others as yet because of recent nasty weather but I fully intend on treating all of them like my favorite wheel.

I have had several other folks look at all my rims with the fancy Dual Xenon light and pick which one is best. 3 outta 4 of them picked the one with the NXT MP/#7/#20) combo.

                              thanks Jeff for the link...

how long did it take you to do the one wheel with nxt and mp#7/20 and was it all by hand....

so your protecting/detailing it like paint and maintaining it ...Sweet
let us know how long does it last been waxed....

i would love to detail both my vehicle like you..i usually only have two days off during the week and there not back to back...do you do everything all at once or one at a time...im trying to buy all my megs products pay check at a time....

                              thanks again Jeff
