Well, I have certainly enjoyed ColorX more than A-12, but that is up to personal preference, and if any swirls need removed. On the other hand, Gold Class and ColorX/A-12 are two very different products, and I am not sure how you are comparing them. Gold Class should look better, but it will not be able to clean or polish like the other two, and will not be able to last as well on an unprepped surface.2017 Subaru WRX Premium - WR Blue

Welcome to Meguiar's Online!
What condition was the paint on the Malibu to start with?
ColorX is a strong cleaner/wax for removing oxidation, dirt stains in the paint, swirls and scratches.
Meguiar's Cleaner/Wax is a very mild cleaner/wax and Gold Class is Polish/Wax, if you used the ColorX on paint in good to excellent condition you probably wouldn't notice much of a difference, but if you went to restore a severely neglected finish you would see a big difference in cleaning ability right away.

colorX
Mike: The Malibu's paint is in very good condition. The ways that i was comparing colorX to gold class and a1216 was in terms of gloss and ease of application. If colorX will last a little longer that will be a plus since I live in the South Florida area.I will wait and see...I was praising c/w a1216 and gold class more than i was knocking colorX.Anyway I'm always a meguiars fan....

I know ColorX cleaning ability is better than DC#1, but is the polish in ColorX better than DC#2 or doesnt really matter? Also the wax in ColorX hows the protection and whats the goal of the wax, meaning does the wax in ColorX shoot for protection? gloss? depth? and how does it compare to other waxes, such as Tech wax, or GC wax?

A pure product will always be better than a all in one type. So the DC#2 will do a better job of polishing. It is probably the exact same polishing oils used, but larger amounts in the pure polish. ColorX does sound like it has more polishing oils than the A-12 cleaner wax.
I'd say ColorX is more Protection and Gloss than lots of depth. Though I dont have a real dark car.
I usualy top ColorX, so this is more of an opinion.... but the wax seems to last as well as any other average wax. Nxt may last longer, but ColorX seems fine on its own for a good amount of time.
edit:
Just to add.. ColorX isnt nessicerily a better cleaner.. just different. As far as chemical cleaning goes, DC#1 is probably better. ColorX just happens to have some abrasives that can be helpfull.2017 Subaru WRX Premium - WR Blue

Does Color X bead or sheet water? I've never really heard it discussed. I got an order in today from Meguiar's, and I am going to try the Color X out in the morning. I am probably going to top it with DC3. I've never used the Color X, but I am looking forward to it. Mike's results on that Bronco II were outstanding to say the least. I was impressed with this product's cleaning ability and polishing ability.Bama

Probably somewhere in the middle in my opinion.. Kind of like Nxt seems to bead a little, sheet a little for me. I dont think anything beads as much as the A-12 Cleaner/Wax. Not that it is really an essential trait, espeacialy if topped.2017 Subaru WRX Premium - WR Blue

Man, wow. You guys are getting me excited. I can't wait to try it.
Is it safe on a new vehicle? My new ride has some minor DISO that I wanted to try it on after I wash and clay.
I don't have a g100, so by hand, I thought that this might be my best bet. Thanks.Bama

"The appropriate amount"
As far as the protection ingredients go, this is a going to be a blend of different ingredients that will include polymers, silicones, resins and Carnauba wax. By blending different ingredients you get the benefits and features of multiple ingredients instead of just one ingredient.
ColorX is a great product as it is versatile as you can control the cleaning power and ability by how you apply it. For light cleaning, use light pressure with a foam applicator pad. For aggressive cleaning use a peice of terry cloth towel or one of our Even Coat applicators pads.
You can also use it by machine. Affordable, easy to find, satisfies the needs of a wide spectrum of people once they learn what the product is, what it's for and how to use it.
