  • New Car - Rocker Film?

Just got a new car and want to protect the rocker panels and other areas that take a beating. I thought I read somewhere that there is a type of "film" that you can put on those areas. Anyone know anything about this - and does it look ok and work?

ps Hi Mike - I'm baaaack! (winter time means more time on the computer in your great new forum.. well new for me at least.. lol)

    Hi Craig,

    Good to have you back!

I think the product you're referring to is the same type of film used for clear Bra's...

I'll e-mail Brian White and see if he'll chime in on this...

The clear bra matrial ( 3m ) is a fantastic product. When installed correctly it is nearly invisible and will definitly save your paint! Be sure to use 3m film and have someone who knows their stuff install it and you will be very happy wit the results and protection it wil provide.

Many oem car mfg's install strips of this material in the areas prone to rock dammage ( factory installed ) Remember the olers ( 80's Porsche's, they had a patch on th eback fenders in front of the rear wheels to save from the dammage that would have been caused by the larger flars in the rear taking th eimpact of all the debri thrown up by the front tires.

          Mike asked for a pic

I used what I had (going to get the great looking NXT products as soon as I can stop detailing lol) which was the #26 wax.

Here's a pic of her first day at my house, detailed of course!

          See y'all in the driveway!

the film is the same as the 3m film used for the clear bra's, however you need to buy a full roll unless you can find a shop that custom cuts clear bra's then you can buy a few feet off of them

I have some bulk material left over from when I sold my business, if you are interested let me know and I can sell you some that you can cut and install yourself.
