In my personal opinion, no.
The main reason being is that they don't offer enough 'nap' to them. That nap allows tiny bits of grit/sand/dirt to become entrained in the fiber of a high-quality 100% cotton terry or microfiber towel. A diaper doesn't have this and thus, is much more prone to cause scratching.
I have diapers in my aresonal however, they never touch my paint.

personally i think they are the worst.
the only reason i tried them was becuase i heard about how some terry cloth leave scratch on your car.
but the "diaper" cloth is hard to use
it dont really do much actually.
