  • pure polish extends durability of wax?

Some people say I do not need "pure polish" (in Meguiars terminology) because my car is white.

However, after I used Meguiars Deep Crystal Polish step 2 before waxing,
wax seems to last longer on my old high mileage white car (now 13 years old, 257 thousand miles).

But I am not sure whether some other factor made me feel as if pure polish prolonged wax life.

Am I really wasting time on my white car with pure polish, or is it worth the effort?
For me, protection is more important than beauty.

Well this is my thought. First of all, I never heard that polishing a white vehicle was a waste (meaning it does nothing?). I guess I find that fact slightly interesting if it is true.

But my spin would be that Pure Polishes have oils in them to replenish the paints need and adding durability. I agree that the polish wouldn’t really “Darken or Richen” the white color. Also, I would assume your smoothing (making shinier) the paint surface regardless of the color (and it may be clear coat to boot). I think the bi-product of durability is beauty and so, your killing two birds with one stone.

This is just my guess and I am sure others will have more to say on it.

The reason it could be considered a 'waste' is because you will not get the visual benefits of a polish like you will from polishing a dark color. You will get the nourishing benefits of course, so it is still a good thing.

As far as durability, your claim is very believable. Here is an artical to read:

When I had my white truck I always used a polish... It did enhance the color and the polish step was well worth it giving better end results... Would it be possible that the polish helped prep the surface for wax allowing a better starting point for the wax???
