I'm still new to the 80's series of products...I work in #82 on the 5 setting with the yellow pad until the product is a little tacky, or semi-dry maybe?

I also put a big "X" of product on the pad.

I do pretty much the same thing with DACP, except I work it in a little more...I have found out that the W-7006 pad will break down DACP faster than the W-8006 pad will.

Meguiars does not recommend that a cutting pad be used with a PC, but I am able to remove more defects with it.

I'll agree with you on that Rusty. I've been using the cutting pad on the PC for quite a while now with nothing but outstanding results.
Username "FLAWLESS" on every other forum, but was taken already on here.

That's good to hear Flawless...At least I'm not by myself on this matter.

I have even used the red pad with Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner....DCPC is a light cleaner, but it has the ability to stay wet when using a PC on the 5 setting with this pad for a prolonged period of buffing time, and the results were outstanding.

How did the finish look after #82 was applied?
There was an oily residue that really wouldn't buff off but the NXT did the trick. Without trying to hijack the thread though, I'm not sure whether the #82 did any better or worse than #9 would have. By the same token, I'm not convinced NXT did any better job than Gold Class did either. Frankly, I don't like the smell of the NXT either.

However, the Mercedes is a metallic paint with gold flecks (Espresso designo) and I will try (hopefully) next weekend doing the FX45 which is Obsidian black and see if the paint type makes any difference. So much of detailing is subjective, it's more of an art than a science

            Mike,

On another thread earlier this week there was discussion regarding using a cutting pad and DACP on a PC.

You were going to do some testing this Wednesday. I thought I'd bump this thread as you can see some others have had good results with this combination.

Did you get to do any testing with the above combination?
A great finish begins with the right start!
