  • claying after applying wax

Last week I applied 3 layers of wax (2 layers of DC3 and 1 layer of NXT Tech). Today I got a clay bar and I was wondering if I could wash the car and start claying. After, I'm considering DC1, DC2, NXT Tech (2 layers).

Can I do it this way or should I do something to remove current wax?

You can wash the car then clay but I would re-apply some wax to the clayed areas....

To get the best results I would follow the plan you outlined: "I'm considering DC1, DC2, NXT Tech (2 layers)." Should give you some very good results.

You can do whatever you want to do, but please not claying will remove almost all of the wax. It will remove the above the surface wax!

Well, depends on how aggressively you clay

wax4tw- If you're trying to remove contaminants stuck in the wax, then clay very gently and you can probably do it without removing all the wax.

If you want to remove contaminants *under* the wax, you'll have to get through (i.e., "remove") the wax in order to get to them.

Unless there's something you want to clay off that *really* bugs you, I'd just wait a while and enjoy your recently applied wax. When it could stand redoing (or you get the irresistable urge to detail it again ), *then* wash, clay, DC1, etc. Between the claying and the DC1 you'll really get the paint clean.

Also, IMO waiting until the fresh wax isn't so fresh will avoid the temptation to clay very aggressively (in order to remove said wax), which might result in light marring.
