  • Polishing question

I am gearing up to do a full workup on my Truck. It has some light swirl here and there and also some MF induced scratches.

Mike and others have recommended I go with #80 for the polish.

That sounds good and I am all set up for that but before I get started, I wanted to ask something else.

Would I see any increase in shine, gloss or reflection if after using the #80, I stepped down to say #09 next, then #82, then #7?

In other words, if after I use the #80, if I went through the products I have in house one by one and took a step down in aggressiveness with each step, would I end up with a better shine outta the deal?

BTW. I can't remeber if the agressiveness of #82 & #09 off the top of my head so I may have the order of usage reversed for those 2 products.

BTW, I guess I should note I will be using the DA here.

I cant speak for using all of those products, if anything following up #80 with a pure polish will give some benefits, though I wouldnt say huge benefits.

Yeah, what he said. The #80 will break down as fine as you'll need and leave a ready-to-wax finish unless there's something very weird going on (only needed something finer one time, and that was on a fresh repaint of questionable quality). So no need to further abrade the finish after the #80. Use a "pure polish (something nonabrasive) like #3/#5/#7/#81/Deep Crystal Step #2 if you want something "extra" before you apply the wax.

If you do a great job of applying and working in the M80 Speed Glaze, you will have a finish perfectly prepared for applying wax. Because you're working white truck, (clear coat over white), once you have the clear coat as clear as it can be more polishing will not equate to a better and better looking finish.

You could if you wanted to apply an application of either the M82 or the M09 and then go to wax, but I doubt your eyes will be able to perceive a difference if you had skipped this step and went straight to wax. Your time will probably be better spent applying two coats of wax. The key here is to do a good job of applying the M80 Speed Glaze. This is where you should focus your time and energy, the prep-step.

BTW. I can't remember if the aggressiveness of #82 & #09 off the top of my head so I may have the order of usage reversed for those 2 products.
M82 and M09 are very similar with the edge going to M82 as a tad bit more aggressive, most people would probably not be able to see or notice a difference in results when using either of these two products. M09 is the less aggressive of the two products.

        Have fun... cool truck...
