  • INFINITIFX.org says HELLO!

Many of us at infinitifx.org are avid long time ZAINO users, however your Newer NXT products are turning a few heads. I think a deterrant to NOT having looked sooner is calling the NXT Tech a wax instead of a Polish. ~ Speed Detailer seems to give Z-6 a run for the money and Metal Polysh is a big hit with those of us with Stock 20" CHROMMIES! Please visit us and share some points.

It's gonna be tough to beat Z2-PRO as a Loooong Laaasssting base, but I'm willing to try. (Liquid Glass & Satin Gloss are other favorites too)

        Hi PINITI-FX,

        Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

I checked out your forum, nice place, looks like a great place to hang out if you have an Infinity FX.

"Words mean things... just ask any lawyer"

As far as the words wax and polish go, you're right in that NXT Tech Wax isn't a wax if you think of a wax as something with natural ingredients in it such as Carnauba wax as there are no natural ingredients in this formula as it is made using only synthetic ingredients, (man-made), technically it would fall into the category of synthetic paint sealants.

The term Sal Zaino uses for his Z2 product also causes confusion as it falls into the category of synthetic paint sealants also.

Most people when they think of the word polish, they either think of a product that will abrade the finish to remove defects or a product that will fill in swirls and scratches temporarily. Zaino and a handful of other companies use the word polish to describe their synthetic paint protectant and this has caused their customers a lot of confusion.

To get an idea of how Meguiar's defines the word polish, you can check out this thread...

As for using the word wax on the label of the NXT synthetic paint protectant, the reason for this is because the majority of people in the world are not as savvy as you and the online detailing enthusiasts crowd and don't understand what all the words we use to describe products and procedures are, thus using a different word other than wax would confuse them.

Most people when they see a product with the word wax on the label can figure out it's something you apply to the paint to protect it after first washing the car. So in keeping with the K.I.S.S. philosophy, (Keep It Simple Simon), while technically NXT Tech Wax is a synthetic paint protectant, using the word wax on the label gets the message through loud and clear to a majority of the population both in the Real World and in the Cyber World.

In the big picture, as discussed hundreds of times on this forum and hundreds of thousands of times on all the other forums, it is the prep-work you do before applying your choice of a paint protectant that makes the difference between mediocre results and results that shout WOW!

Preparing the surface by removing any above or below surface paint defects is the most important contributing factor to the end-results you see with your own two eyes after you make your final wipe and then stand back to admire the results.

Again, welcome to the Meguiar's Online discussion forum, we're here to answer your questions should you have any and please feel encouraged to chime in and offer your experience or knowledge on topics your familiar with.

Welcome to MOL! Just one question, if I may. Where are the laser cruise control sensors located on the FX35?

Nice ride and paint job BTW!

Thanks folks. Great reading & response Mike, I'm hoping to get feedback primarily from former Zaino users and reasons why they've switched to the M. NXT line of products. ex. when to use NXT Speed Detailer vs. NXT Spray Wax? ~ RamAirV1 here's a discussion of the I.C.C. with pics. also.

NXT Liquid Tech wax or Spray?

Last weekend did NXT Liquid Tech after a wash and dry, loved it - even the Chrommies (dampened the applicator with a little Speed Detailer) This afternoon/evening after a wash and dry did NXT Spray - MORE difficult to apply and remove, ended up using Speed Detailer to assist us in removing the streaks and smears. [are we doing something wrong?] Since the Spray and Liquid seem to require a similar amount of steps and energy - why not just use Liquid Tech? ...or go back to Z2-PRO?

Perhaps you mis-understand the role of a spray wax it is for use in-between normal washes and normal application of wax. It is typically not a product you would apply the same day you apply a normal coat of wax.

As far as application goes, read these two threads...

Thanks for the reply Mike, but in my post you'll see I did not apply the Liquid Tech and the Spray in the SAME day. - It was a week apart! I'll keep trying, as KITI looks slick under the moonlight now.

Whoops! I didn't catch that when I read your post. Read the two threads I included as technique is everything when it comes to using a spray wax and getting good results. I myself like both of our spray waxes and use them all the time on our black Pilot.

When I had my drag boat I used both the Marine spray wax and Quik Wax on it all the time after pulling the boat out of the lake for the day. It restored a just waxed look to the Hugger Orange gel-coat quick and easy...
