A co-worker of mine suggests cleaning the leather seats of my friends 2002 regal gs with dish washing liquid. I think he's crazy. Isn't it called "dish washing" liquid for a reason??? Can it be used for this purpose?

It's better to use a product formulated specifically for cleaning leather by a chemist with a background in automotive car care chemistry.

Meguiar's G10916 Gold Class Rich Leather Spray is a cleaner, conditioner and protectant all in one and it actually works really well.

I have found Meguiar's APC+ diluted about 10:1 to be very good at cleaning leather.

I also use Meguiar's D180 and love the way it leaves the leather when done.

I just picked up some Gold Class 2-Step leather cleaner and conditioner from the For Sale or Trade section of the board. Really excited to give it a try.

          sadrok,

I would have to agree with both Mark and Mike P. Use a product that is designed to clean leather is the best bet. I have used APC, APC+, and the Gold Class 2 step products all with great results. Dish soap is best left in the kitchen.

Yup, APC cut 10:1 works outs great for cleaning leather. Be careful though, the leather will tend to 'spot' if you dont apply it evenly. If you spray it on and let it sit in one spot that spot will be really light depending on the color of the leather.

I like to spray it on a MF heavily then wipe the leather. I keep another MF that is saturated with just water to wipe over the leather after going over it with the APC then I use a dry MF to dry it. After that I apply Gold Class Rich Leather. Never had any problems doing leather that way but do a test spot first.
