  • Detailing Process

Hi to all the fellow forum members. Thought I'd post my ride and check on the things I have learnt.

Firstly I wash with GC wash and then use GC wax. As well as this I use quick detailer whenever a blemish occurs, as well as scratch x for minor swirls/markings.

I also use GC trim detailer for all the black exterior parts and glass cleaner for my windows.

I use GC leather wipes regularly on my interior and also use #17 clear plastic cleaner on my gauges occasionally.

After reading the forums I'm going to continue to use the GC wash. I am now going to try the clay bar/deep crystal paint cleaner, followed by deep crystal polish, then the NXT tech wax.

I'll keep you informed of the new products when I try them and the results.

Any advice/suggestions would be more than welcome

    Jason

    Hi Jason,

    Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

It sound like you're on the right track! If you've never used detailing clay before and you park your car outside at least part of each day, then chances are good you will come to know why this tool gets as much attention as it does... Usually you would inspect your car's finish after washing and drying using your the a palm and finger tips of your clean hand, somewhat like these people are doing at our most recent detailing class.

Keep a clean, soft microfiber with as you're claying and wipe of any spray lubricant residue after claying one section and moving onto a new section. Claying removes any wax on the surface so at a minimum you'll have to wax after claying.

Another thing to remember is that products like paint cleaners and polishes do not need to dry before removing, simply apply the products, work them in and then remove them. In the Meguiar's line, only our waxes need to dry before removing.

Welcome aboard and if you have any questions please feel encouraged to ask away!

        You have a good start!

You wouldn't think clay would do much... but it will sure provide results leaving your paint smooth as glass. Well worht doing every 6 months or so.

As for the Deep Crystal Paint Claner and Deep Crystal Polish.... both great prouducts very easy to use by hand and PC, remember you do not let the cleaner or polish dry as you do with a wax. Apply and remove them in a small area (2X2) as you go.

NXT Wax all I have to say is

You have a good looking car!

I like the gloss finish of the GC wax, and have been reading that is provides a glossier finish then the NXT tech wax. My question is if I stay with the GC wax, would there be any need/benefit to use the DC#2 or could I remove that step?
