  • Maine detailers

are any of you guys a mobile service ?
what do you do in the cold months when its just too cold to
    detail ?

how do you get the salt off of vehicles ?

is the detail market too saturated ?

is there a high request or need for auto detailing ?

I'm just curious on how you guys go
about business, when I lived in Mass.
    I didn't have a business detailing so
I was wondering how you deal with it.

    thanx

Based on the condition of a lot of vehicles I see in Maine, I'm not sure there are a lot of people from Maine on this forum, let alone pro detailers, so I will chime in.

I live in the Southern Maine area, outside of Portland, and there are several auto detailing companies around, but only a couple of quality ones. I have found that a lot of people have their cars "detailed" at local stealerships, but the good detailing shops do seem to stay pretty busy.
As far as I know, there is only maybe 1 or 2 who offer a mobile type service, but im not sure how involved they get.
The good shop in Portland near the water front does stay pretty busy in the winter, but they are in an area of higher income, and seem to take care of the "nicer" cars.

As far as salt removal, I myself will just wash the car as normal. I have a heated garage with drains in the floor, specifically done for this reason when I had the house built. I wash my car in the garage whether its Summer or Winter. I just make sure to soak the car down really good and try to spray off as much of the dirt/salt as possible before going at it.

Maybe someone else from Maine will be on here to offer their opinion.

From the Admin Panel I found 8 members from Maine, the most prolific poster was your older brother CHzo6 but alas he has gone off to serve his country as you well know....

Well I just wanted to say Good Bye to everyone. As I previously mentioned, heading back to Iraq. My flight leaves tomorrow morning to go to Camp Pendleton, so this will be my last post for quite sometime im sure. My younger brother made a name on here and will probably post every so often, RedSoxRacer is his name. Thanks

        How's he doing?

Another person that included Maine in their profile is,

Funny you mention him. He came back to the US a few days ago with some other members of his platoon, and is still at Camp Pendleton in CA, but he will be coming back home to Maine next week.
I believe his obligation to the Marines is over, but I think he plans on re-enlisting. Im sure he will stop by the message board at some point when he has some time after he comes home.
            Thanks for the thoughts.
