  • Polish or Glaze-Which one to use?

I wash my truck with auto detergent than I use Meguiars paint cleaner than I use Meguiars polish. My question is should I use the polish or the Meguiars#3 machine Glaze? I use the Porta Cable polisher. Also what is the real difference between a polish and a glaze? Thanks Joe

    Hi Joe,

    Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

You can use either polish, but will do a great job of making your paint look great.

For clarification as to the differences between polishes and all paint care products, read this...

My understanding is that polishes and glazes are essentially the same, except that Glazes tend to be less aggressive than "polishes".

This means that a "polish" will be better for both removing fine scratches and deepening your color, while a "glaze" will not remove hardly any scratches, but will nourish and deepen your color as well.

I've pretty much given up trying to generalize between "glaze" and "polish" and now I just refer to the characteristics of specific products. I *do* think you can still generalize that "glaze"= "fresh-paint-safe" with regard to interfering with the paint curing.
