  • Quik Clay reuseable?

I've just purchased 2 Quik Clay kits and was wondering, I have a truck, so it's big. Found out today that the hood was rough as well as the rest of the body because I never had time to wax it again. And it needed to be clayed before using scratch x, pure polish, and wax. These bonded contaminants aren't visible but feel rough to the touch, even after I tried a little scratch x already. So I was wondering, would it be safe to use the clay bar for more than one vehicle as long as I kneed it correctly? And how do you know when to toss it out, (if you haven't dropped it already)?

You can use it for more then one vehicle. I usually toss the clay when it looks like it has lots of junk in it and has turned kinda gray color. If it has losts of particles in it, I toss it so that I wont put scratches in my paint.

      Also,

You can break it in 2 to 4 pieces. Some say 2 to 3 other's say 3 or 4.

Most people make about 3 pieces; I think.

I make it into 2 because it is easier to work with.

Anyway, you can use one piece and store the other(s) away.

After tear your new clay bars into smaller chunks, place them into a zip-lock baggie and squirt a little Quik Detailer in the baggie before sealing it to keep the clay from sticking to the plastic.
