  • Newbie @ The Beginning ...

Sorry for my bad english but I have a question for you guys.

Because meguiars has a very good reputation in the tuning world here in belgium. I tought it would be very nice to use it on my Volkswagen Polo. It's a small car in a silver colour.

I have already bought this products:

    - Deep Pile Chenille Wash Mitt
    - Water Magnet Drying Towel

Now I need some good products to wash my car.

My question is, is this a good start to use the NXT Car wash and ScrathX in combination with the mitt and the towel?
Or is ther a better combination to use?

I hope you can read all this.

Shoot all the combinations and thanks already.

    Hi AloHa,

    Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

The NXT Car Wash is a great car wash that we're sure you'll love and ScratchX is a great paint cleaner if you need to remove defects from the paint, besides these two products you need to consider a wax also.

I suggest start out reading and digesting this thread...

Your wash mit is a good start, but the water magnet towel isnt going ot be used for applying or removing scratchX, it is only for drying the car after washing. Look in the How to section for how to care for a new car, and what products/accessories you may need. Here is a short list though:

Washing: Nxt car wash is great, apply with your mitt, then rinse, and dry with Water Magnet.

Clay: Clay with Meguiars Quick Clay, or Clay Magic, etc if you cant find it.

Clean: ScratchX is an agressive cleaner, and can be used to fix any major swirls. If your car is swirl free, or once you get it swirl free, you can use Deep Crystal System #1. Apply with a Hi-Tec foam applicator, or clean terry cloth. Remove with a good terry cloth, or a Supreme Shine Microfiber towel.

Polish: Deep Crystal #2 is one of the best polishes. Again, apply and remove with foam/terry cloth, and remove with microfiber or terry.

Wax: Nxt wax and Gold Class wax are two of the best waxes, and are applied with either a foam applicator, or terry cloth, and removed with microfiber or terry cloth.

You will basicaly want a whole bunch of applicators and microfiber towels.

I hope that helps some? and is understandable...

        I understand it very good.

but i read now that ther is a negative site of the water magnet.
that ther is a chance that I will have litte scrathes on my car when I use it.

After reading the 5-Step Paint Care Cycle, then read these two threads and see if everything starts to make sense...

Suggested Products for Taking Care of a New Car

Although the title to this article is how to remove swirls, you can follow the steps and use the products to take care of a car in great shape also, you are just fortunate in that you don't have to do the cleaning step, or at least you don't have to work at it.

for the beginning it tought to use only a good mitt, drying towel and a good wash producht, the wax and others are for later.

I have not the time to wax my car every month or week

I have seen that there aren't many users off the water magnet, why is that?

              AloHa!

Or should I say aloha AloHa? Bienvenue AloHa? Welkom AloHa? (Sorry if that's wrong, I could not find a Flemish translation online, only Dutch.)

The Water Magnet is very popular with people here on MeguiarsOnline (and other places too).

I have two. I've never had any problems at all with them. They're my favorite drying towels.

Second that no problems with mine. I just wash it in a warm/warm hot water in a clean washing machine with a liquid soap.

Then I hang it to dry indoors ofcource to avoid it collecting dust.

                  you're translation is very good

I am going to get myself a bottle of NXT carwash.

That for me the best way to wash the car. After some months I am going to get the other products like wax and detailer.
Is it good that you was and polish the car each half year?

I love my Water Magnets as well.

It is not bad to wax your car twice a year, though a little bit more is always better. You may want to look into something like Meguiars Cleaner/Wax, or Meguiars ColorX, as they are easy one-step products to use if you are short on time. At least in the US, they are quite low cost as well for what they do.

I’m sure you’ll like the NXT wash.

Waxing two times a year with a high quality wax like NXT Tech Wax is much, much better than most cars you see ever get. Three or four times is probably better, especially if the car stays outside all the time. Every month or week is usually not needed (but some people like to).

You’ll want to wash much more often. I like to wash whenever the car gets dirty. It depends on the weather. Sometimes it’s one week, sometimes two. I usually feel bad if I wait a month or more (unless the car is kept inside and not driven much).

Here in belgium the products are very expensive.
Because of the price I am not going to buy all at ones.

The water magnet cost about 25€ so that 20€ for one.
The NXT wash cost also 20€ the bottle.
