Hey guy's, I have a friend whose car needs waxing. It's a pontiac G6. Medium red metallic. I'm planning to wash, Quik Clay then??
I always used DCS. I'm thinking maybe using new car glaze #5 or show car #7 glaze instead of DC2. Followed by NXT. What do you think? Thanks in advance.

DC#2 is a great product works well... I have used #7 and to me it seemed a little "greasy", great product but I didn't like it for that reason.

I have not used #5... but I have use #81 Hand Polish.... its a pure polish very easy to use and leaves a great deep looking finish.

One more thing I thought of... are you going to use a dedicated cleaner after the clay? If not something like Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner would be a good start to preof for the polish then wax.

Yes I will clean with DC1 after claying, maybe SX in places. Just migh try 81. I think it is hard to beat DC2 though for the price. Thanks again.

I agree DC#2 great product and its only $4.99! Anything in the Deep Crystal Line is a very good inexpensive product.

Does he do much car maintenance, since it is a new car? Yo ucan always talk him into a bottle of Cleaner/Wax, or ColorX for up keep in between your helping with bigger details.

You can talk him into a cleaner wax.

However, I recomend you go with something like Nxt Tech to stun him with the results.

Since it is a new car, hopefully without the DISO, you should alreayd have it swirl free.

Beign a new car, I would wash it with Nxt, then Clay the paint with Quik Clay and Quik Detailer use a Supreme Microfiber to wipe up the mess.

Do DC1, follow with DC2.

Finally, hit it with NXT Tech Wax Liquid with Even Coat Applicator.

Clean the tires with Hot Rims (my latest and greatest tire cleaner).

Hit the inside with Quik Interrior Detailer... everywhere.

Do the Windows inside first with the Nxt Glass Cleaner and a Microfiber. Then go outside and use paper towels.

When you get the windows clean, clean them again with the microfiber.

After cleaning with the microfiber, switch to the reverse side and hit it with a dry clean microfiber.

Don't forget to clean his wipers. I have found water to be best on wipers. It is safe on the rubber. If you really want to be a good buddy/friend, buy 1 or 2 RainX Origional Treatment wipes in the foil package and then rub them on his front window thin and easily. Buff it off completely with a microfiber after about 5 minutes as directed. Some people say you can leave it on longer, and you can. Any way, get it all off!

Now leave the windshild alone for 15 minutes.

Come back and buff your window again with another dry microfiber even though it looks like there is nothing there.

Sprinkle with distilled water and buff one last time.

He will never see the RainX or even know it is there until he gets water on his window. He won't even know why his window acts the way it does. He will like it though. Your secret. It will cost you $1 for a single RainX wipe. You will need 1 or 2 of them.


Don't forget tire dressings. The Nxt Insane is great. Trim Detailer is awsome too.

The work should be pretty easy. I mean you should have nothing that is really chllenging on a new car unless the dealer's guys got to it first and created you more work.

I would estimate it should take you about 4 to 5 hours.

Your friend will owe you a favor when done.

Agreed -- I really like insane shine. Just one thing about it -- make sure you apply the tire dressing BEFORE the last time that you go over the exterior with NXT speed shine, QuikDetailer, or #34 (FI). The slight overspray can (will) leave little dots (might look something like tree sap to you on first inspection) on the paint. They'll wipe right off with an MF and QD spray though.

I was hit with the same dillema a couple of years ago, and I tried both #7 and DC2. On a dark car, I prefer the DC2 because it seems to be more aggressive than the glazes. Also, I would tend to agree that the #7 is a little "greasy" to work with.

The funny part is that after the DC2 I put the #7 on anyway! Then I followed that up with a coat of Gold class with DC3 on top.

If you're not up for that much work, I would suggest the whole DC system after you clay. It works great, looks great, and goes on and off by hand. What more could you want?

Most people find #7 a little tricky, at least until they get the hang of it.

I dunno if you'll find a worthwhile difference between DC#2 and #5. I really like #5 but they're just not all that different. If you're working in high humidity I'd use the #5 though.

I don't care for it on the windshield.

It used to streak at times when the wipers were on......Not a good thing when it's dark & rainy.

On the other hand, Final Detail has worked well on the windshield in a rainstorm......I didn't mean to apply it there at the time I was QD'ing the car, but I'm glad I did now.

Your mileage may vary though.

I will admit at times the product is terrible like when cleaning windows.

It is awful when it smears around.

But once it re-sets itself and you throw some water on it and wipe it again it clears up.

Thanks for the idea's!! Have not decided which way yet. Most likely DC1 DC2 or #5 because I live in the Mid-West and it is muggy, then NXT liquid. Ought to blow the mind!!

I have to somewhat agree with this - I never apply RainX to anything where a "wiper path" will be -- only on the side windows. On my front and rear (I have a rear wiper) I use Aquapel because it doesn't streak like RainX can.

I hear Aquapel is good stuff.

How much does it cost? Can I get it cheaply?

Also, I would be interested in buying 2 to test it maybe 4 if you say it is good because I would really like the stuff.
