  • my growing arsenal...plus questions..

ok so far my arsenal consist of:

    cleaners/polishes/waxes

    scratch x
    dc-1
    dc-2
    #80
    #26
    gold class wax
    nxt liquid wax

i want to add #83 , #21 to the arsenal soon

    protectants/cleaners

    stoners ig
    nxt glass cleaner
    nxt protectant
    gold class leather cleaner/conditioner
    gold glass interior trim dressing
    spray nine all purpose cleaner
cheap tire dressing for wheel wells

i want to add hyper dressing, APC.window cleaner, all season dressing to this arsenal as well..

now i use my orbital to apply most of these products when waxing etc.i also use it on occasions to remove my lsp..

this past weekend i detailed a terribly bad 98 jetta, dark blue with a lil sparkle, so no pics...

this car wasnt washed in who knows how long, bird poop was etched into the paint, car had no shine what so ever...
    how i attacked it..

    washed with deep crystal wash
    clayed
    washed again
scratch x'ed the bird poop etching, no help after many passes, i realized these stains were part of the paint now..
    dc-1
#80, some areas of the car caused the #80 to gum up badly where i couldnt get it off with out QD, was i using to much #80,i was using a terry bonnet to apply it,ive been alternating between the foam 9' orbital pad and terry cloth bonnet to see which is easier...they both have there days, sometimes the foam bonnet is easier, sometimes the terry cloth bonnet is...was i using to much #80, causing it to gum up, i really worke it in to make sure the abrasives were broken down.

some areas i had to go back to dc-1 to get the stuck on #80 off where it looked cloudy/hazy, the dc-1 cleared that back up, then topped it all with some #26...

the customer (my day job boss) was amazed with how the car looked afterwards, but i wasnt satified and i told him, but he was still happy..

there were surface scratches still left when u looked at the car in direct sun, u saw like those waxscratches, that look like they were put in while waxing..where as i was hoping to atleast have had a flawless finish minus the bird poop etching...

i even got rid of all my cheap mf towels fo better quality thinking those were what was inflicting surface scratches, still the same result..

can anyone tell me what im doing wrong, help in my procedure, provide tips, and what else i should have in my arsenal..

my g-100 will be purchased over the winter once i have most of my other supplies out of the way...

    thanks
    brandon..

Doesn't sound like you're doing anything wrong, you're just strapped using a tool that is in-effective.
