Promoting NXT Tech Wax

Today I was in AutoZone and had several things to buy.

Among the things I bought were a Chinelle Wash Mitt, Microfiber Towels, Quik Interrior Detailer, and Extreme All Wheel, and RainX wipes.

While in AutoZone, I couldn't help but notice someone comparing two bottles of Turtle Wax. I think one was some sort of wax and the other was another wax.

I started idle conversation and mentioned that there are so many different products. I then decided to mention that there are many better products on the shelf. I mean there was Kit, there was DuPont, Mother's, and Zymol to name a few. I don't think Turtle Wax is better than any of those. I didn't say that though. I wouldn't even look at Turtle Wax to be honest.

I suggested he look at the Nxt Tech Wax Liquid. I left him with the thouhght of I know it it costs about 3 times more than the stuff you were looking at, but it looks better, provides better protection, and lasts longer too. I told him you can look at the back and it also has a phone number to call, a satisfaction guarantee, and a Website URL with a lot of information including a forum for professional help.

I saw him make the purchase probably because I spent about $100 on detailing stuff.

I am hoping he will be a happy customer and never go back to products like Turtle Wax. I will never know if he will like it or not, but I am assuming he will if all he has ever used is Turtle Wax in the past. IMO a $4 to $6 for a 16oz bottle of Wax means it isn't going to be that great. Haven't tried it though.

I was given a new package of Turtle Wax 2001 Wipes a while back and left them in my glove box for probably a year or so. After pulling them out since they were there and opening the package, I notice the wipes appear to have rusted. I am considering taking pictures becaues I find that funny.

Anyway, I decided to apply the stuff and to say the least it leaves a very shiny film that doens't go away. It m akes Armor-All Origional look dull in comparison. I could get the same results with some toilet paper and a can of WD-40.

I tried glass cleaner... on my vinal to get the stuff off. Nothing worked. In time, it eventually went away on its own. I now use Quik Interrior Detailer and I must say it is better.

Hey Jbirk,

Sadly, many consumers are not aware of proper car care. To many, if the car "shines" it is good enough. I have literally spent hours trying to explain to people the benefits of claying, using the right polish as well as a wax or sealant. Many are convinced that an old t-shirt is just fine to remove wax!

I am glad that you are trying to educate those people that show and interest in car care. Who knows, that person may look back one day and thank the person that started him the down the right path to proper car care!!!!!

i figure that people who typically use turtle wax have paint finishes that really need a sort of cleaner wax instead but these also tend to be the normal people who just dont know how to evaluate paint and just think that wax is wax and just thinks the price difference is only in the name.... if only people knew better than instead of buying that green bottle of **** that i see in almost everyone's house... they would go for something like color x which cost only a little more but makes a big difference... its also sad that even people who are suppose to know stuff like this dont... mainly people who work at car dealers.... customers who might be interested in keeping their cars nice get wrong information and think that these low quality products are actually good and that dishwash liquid make good car soap....

When I show up to a place like Auto Zone or Advanced Auto Parts, I always see men (sorry ladies, I only seen guys thus far) perplexed by the vast spread of car care products. They will pick up a wax bottle/can, read the label and put it down, only to pick up the next product. It’s funny to see the look on their faces too. I kinda compare it to the look a guy gets standing in a grocery store and looking at all the Feminine Hygiene Products because their wives (girlfriend) sent them there to pick it up for them. LOL.

This gives me an idea however and Meguiar’s would have to be the ones to support the idea. Remember, I am an Engineer and I try to think outside the box.

So, here is my idea:

With using MOL people on here and spread all across United States (and any other country for that matter), have them (MOL people) volunteer their time to represent Meg’s products at popular Auto Chains (like Auto Zone). Standing near the shelves of Meg’s products, we could answer questions and even go out to their vehicle in the parking lot to suggest things that need to be done using Meg’s products of course. Meg’s could provide their golf shirts with the Meg’s logo on it to make it look official. This would kinda be like the Help Desk at Home Depot where you go to the guy for answers. And in return for volunteering, Meg’s could pay (as a perk, I know I said volunteer) us in products. It could be for only a couple of hours on Saturday’s and in return, we could get a bottle of NXT or something! Now, how would that be for the competition? And because we are really only volunteering, Meg’s wouldn’t need to give us their employee status providing a 401K plan and Health Insurance. LOL.

I would say about 99.999% of the population falls into that category. Most people have that "deer in the headlights" look when you try to explain these things to them.

We here are in a very, very, small minority... growing... but very slowly.

I just figure someone taught you what you know probably here on the forums. It is your job... my job as well to help others.

I am not saying I am an expert or anything, but I would be willing to say I know a lot more than most people do about detailing a car... that goes for everyone here on the forum.

Point is I don't see why Meguiar's should actually pay anyone in products. You either work for them and get a paycheck, or you don't and you get/give information to benefit everyone for free.

Take my first post for instance, I did not spend a lot of time talking to the guy. I didn't tell him he really should wash (he probably knows this), then clay, then clean, then polish, and finally wax.

My guess is he will probably Wash then jump directly to Waxing. However, I did suggest the Nxt Tech Wax, which is a much better product, and I let him know that he really should checkout the website especially the forums, perhaps get the Rx, and I let him know there is a Phone #.

I DID NOT bombard him with the 5-Step wash process as that would be information overload for him

I figure he will get the best results he has ever had, and if he checks out the website very soon will figure out to clay, clean and polish too.

I just felt it was my duty to stop him from wasting an entire day with Turtle Wax just to find water won't bead next week.


As for getting free products, here is how that should work:

When Meguiar's wants to privatly test a new product, they should ask some forum members and create a small list of people like they do for the detailing classes. Then send the product (with full instructions including type and where to use it in the 5 steps) to say 10 to 100 people and get reports back from them. Have them answer specific questions, and fill out a 20 to 60 questions. The question sheet should be online because it will be more convienient to complete that way, and Meguiar's won't' have to read the responses just to enter them into a computer. Finally, the samples should be small for instnace 4oz of wax, and anyone who doesn't fill out the response should be barred from testing future products.

The testers will have good results probably as products are usually ready in the testing phase. Meguiar's will have good info, the testers will be the first... I can't see how anyone could loose.

The Turtle Wax Ultra Platinum is a worthy competitor to the Meguiar's products.

Not sayin' it's better, not sayin' it's worse. I'm saying that it looks great and lasts a good while.

It's tough, standing watching other people pick stuff in the automotive care products aisle. I usually let 'em go. If someone says something I usually try to get all casual and say, "This one works pretty good for me," and leave it at that.
