  • Paint Overspray question.

My mothers car's bumper was recently re-painted, I noticed while cleaning it that on some portions of the car the paint feels like sandpaper, I know for a fact this is overspray, as it appeared after it was painted. My questions is as follows, could I remove the overspray with the Quik Clay Detaling System? And if so, would the overspray come out easily or is it difficult to remove? Thanks for the help.

To answer your question, yes you can remove it with quik clay.

You will need to wash the car first though.

It will not come off extremely easily, but it should come off.

Before bringing a car to a body shop, always wax the car except the parts they are going to work on and around the area they are going to work if they are going to blend paint.

I also recomend Rain-X on all Windows incase those get sprayed. Yes, you can clay widnows too.

        Hey,

I would use caution if you use the Aggressive Clay; it can cause marring that could require machine buffing afterwards. Many body shops will use the aggressive clay as they would be buffing the paint anyway. Give the Quik Clay a try first. After a few attempts, the Mild Clay in the Detailer series may be an option.

          EdJ,

To answer your question, yes you can Clay the overspray off the paint. I just went thru this a couple of weeks ago on my SUV. I had overspray in many areas and I keep finding new ones too. I had it on my rims, roof, grill, inside the windows. I clayed all the areas and it all came off. I sprayed the QD and clayed and then felt it. If I thought it was good, I would wipe it off and re-check the area by sight and feel when it was dry. If it needs more, just repeat the steps. I am sure the Quick Clay will work for you. BTW: My overspray was clear coat.
