black car tips how to's

im gettin a new dialy drive due to gas prices a 98 rav4 in black now it has minor scratches + swirls all around the body but shines decent i will be applying by hand

I detailed my dad's black LS430 although it's only a year old he never got it waxed, only the auto washes at the local Danny's car wash. and it had bad swirls. So this is what I did. (2 bucket method) GC shampoo and conditioner. water magnet dry if that makes a difference. clayed certain spots that needed it. scratchx and pure polish by hand and 2 coats of GC liquid car wax. But I've heard NXT is better so I'm going to try that after I run out of the GC. oh yeah don't forget to tape off trim. Hope this helps.

Looks like a good start... ScratchX is probably the better choice for fine scratch removal as it sounds like you may have to do. DC#1 is a great product and works well but I never really did see it remove swirls/scratches. NXT looks great on black!

Now that you have black it will give you a reason to pick up a PC... test out the minor scratch/swirls removal of various products using the PC.

I am a new member of the G-100 DA club, that combined with *83 and #80 gave my awesome results on my black car. After my initial application, I think I am going to stay with the #80 Speed Glaze and only dip into the DACP when needed.

ScratchX is a great product, but in many cases it takes some vigorous applications to get to work for you. For instance, I've had to go at a scratch 4 maybe 5 times (depending on the scratch) before it was nearly gone.

You're set-up looks pretty good though. The #7 Showcar Glaze looks great on my car too.

What I did last weekend was this:

Wash
Clay (where needed)
#83
#80
#7
NXT

It took me a beeter part of the whole weekend, but if you can spare it, that gave me some great results that hopefully will make it easier to maintain in the coming weeks.

yea it has its fair share of minor swirls will scratchx work well on these or a # product , as far as buying a pc goes im looking into it all tho im a n00b to the subject is it easy learning how to use one any advice will help me

Since DC Step1 is nonabrasive, I'd say Scratch-X. I dunno if there's much point in using DC Step 1 *after* using Scratch-X.
