  • Back in the saddle......

First off, I want to say Hi to everyone here, I have been doing a lot of reading here and showcargarage the past couple weeks, and just recently registered on both places. I've gotten alot of good info, lots of knowledgable people.

A little background on me, my first job was detailing cars for a local dealership, I worked there for a couple years, the owner would always bring his cars to me because I did such a good job, after that I worked for a few different detail shops over the years, and ended up working at a dealership as a service writer.

I recently purchased a black 99 ford crew cab f250, it was covered with scratches when I bought it, and it looked like someone had tried to buff them out, the day before I bought it.

The only products I have had experience with was 3M, I stopped at a local paint store, and after talking with the the guy there I purchased, a new pad for my makita, w9006, a bottle of #83, #81, and some Tech wax, it really turned out sweet! since then I have done at least 10 different trucks at the dealership, I have been really impressed with the Meguiars products, and have decided to do some detailing on the side to make a little extra cash, besides it's something I really enjoy doing.

I already own a Makita rotary buffer, and I recently purchased about 400 bucks worth of Meguiars stuff, including a G100, I cleaned out my garage, installed 300 bucks worth of lighting in it, I already own a good shop vac, pressure washer, and a nice upholstry cleaner, so I am pretty well ready to go.

My question is, some of the cars I will be doing will be for the dealership, the send all of their detailing out, and I have been promised a few a week, what I am looking for is a one step cleaner, cleaner, and protecter for the lot cars. I will be bringing one home after work and doing them in my garage.

I also want to know what you would reccomend for the ultimate finish, what products and what steps you would use.

I am really excited about getting back into the Detail buisness, and if I get enough buisness I may open my own shop.

I have been really impressed with the Meguiars products.

    Hi Dunatic,

    Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

Two products I think you should consider trying for this kind of detailing are,

    M-6601 Quick Detailer
    M-8032 Speed Glaze

The M-66 is a Cleaner/Wax for doing one steps and it is quite versatile in that it can be used by hand, PC and RB. You can always top it with another wax for and even higher quality finish.

The M-80 Speed Glaze is a rich polish with only a little cutting power that makes it great for finishes that are in pretty good condition. After using this you can top with a wax like M-20 Polymer Sealant, M-26 Hi-Tech Yellow Wax or Tech Wax.

    Just some options to consider...
