  • clear coat chiped on aluminum wheels

    hi
Now that i have a plan for restoring the paint on my rx7..
    thanks again for the suggestions
what would you recomend using to polish my aluminum wheels
    the clear coat is chipped
i had planned taking them off the car and remove the clearcoat with aircarft paint remover.
Is there anything i could use other than that?
    then buffing them.
    what do you think?
    Don
ps: sorry for all the questions
i just want to do this right

Removing the paint with paint remover and then polishing them out sounds like it will work, what you should do first is test this idea in a small area first before doing it to an entire wheel, or even all 4 wheels.

First thing you could try to do is to get some of our NXT Generation All Metal Polysh and try to polish some aluminum that is already exposed, make sure you can polish it to a brilliant shine. If you can do this to a small area you can do this to the entire wheel.

Another option is to try to find a company that will do this for you or invest in some new wheels as removing the paint and polishing the wheels is going to require time, money and a lot of elbow grease.

      Thanks for advise mike
i did like you suggested and tried it on a small spot it polished up pretty nice so i sprayed the entire wheel with aircraft remover and its taking a lot of elbow grease
but they are cleaning up just doing one at a time.

i would like to buy new wheels but my rx7 has a weird bolt pattern and wheels are hard to find for it

so to make a long story short i'm doing it by hand

i thought about trying rouge on a buffing wheel but it jus crumbles
when it hits the wheels ...do you know it the rouge stick should be wet or not.
      any help would be appreciated
      thanks
      Don
