  • 3M perfect it liquid show car paste vs. nxt gen wax

Well ...hi to everyone here!! this is my first time here, and my first time i have a brand new car wich i want to keep new....lol!! i have some feedback on turtle wax platinum series...i used that since i got the car, but my car stay parked all day long taking hot sunlight and heavy rain in a humid country (Panama) and the protection went off quickly, ...then i did a research and found Zymol...but ...too expensive and not available here in my country...but now, surprisingly someone here began to distribute meguiar's and those products have arrived here. Currently i am working with the 3M product calle the perfect it liquid car wax and it did better than the turtle wax, easier to aply, easier to remove and longer protection...so, now looking at the videos at meguiar's site, i am wondering if some of you guys here can compare the performance of the 3M product versus the nxt gen wax.....i am just about to wax the car again and use the 3M again...i was not aware of the quick detailer things...and how to preserve the protection...at least for 1 month...can soimebody can tell me how the 3M product comnpares to the nxt gen megiars wax??? i am eager to follow any advice, i will copy paste this message in other sections of the forum thanks!!!!

Please don't do this, you only need to post a message one time. If you post the same thing in a different forum, it will only get deleted.

After posting my reply to your above questions, I found your other two identical posts and deleted them. Just a heads up, if you're new to the world of discussion forums, it's usually considered bad netiquette to cross-post the same message into different forums, just post your questions one time in one forum. If it's in the wrong forum, usually Tim will move it because I usually don't look at what forum a question is in, I just start typing my reply, post it and then move on...

Like I said in my first reply, I don't think I've ever used the 3M wax you have referenced, but maybe someone else on this forum has and will share with your their thoughts and experience.

I taught a detailing class at a Automotive Vocational School a couple of years ago at the request of the Instructor, during the demonstration he pulled out a can of 3M wax and said he had not seen anything that worked as well. We applied NXT Tech Wax Liquid to one side and the 3M Paste Wax to the other side of a black hood on a Ford Truck we had polished out using M83, followed by M80 using a dual action polisher.

The class of about 20 students and the Instructor all agreed the Tech Wax side looked the best. This of course was not the end-all, be-all test and 3M definitely makes some very good products.

That's about the only experience I have with the 3M Paste Wax. I think you'll find most people will agree that doing the proper prep work before applying a wax is the most important thing, if you prep the paint properly, most quality waxes are going to protect the finish and build on the results of your prep work to take your results to a higher level.

For what it's worth... I rarely, and almost never see any one online talking about it.

            thank you!!

Thank's for your feedback, now with the excellent videos in your site, i know that there is a religious process before i get into the waxing stage , i got an RX from the site, and i do really need assistance in this since my black warrior (nissan sentra 2006) is brand new and while i am at work it spends all day long under the hot sun taking a lot of rain in my humid country, so i wrote an e-mail to the Customer Care folks at meguiar's because your products just arrived in mass here in my country, and the full line is not available (just a 70%), so there are some product's recommended in my rx that are not found here (these products have reached even my small town 33 kms from the city!!!), also i encouraged them to talk with the distributors in Panama, since this is a virgin market for those products, you never see an advertising on tv about turtle, 3m, armor all, zymol..or any other car care product's....and there are a lot of guys here who like to detail their cars...a good propaganda for sure will rocket your sales here!!!, our car market is hughe!! we have every single brand here.

I will visit this weekend the most stocked store with your products to see if i can find the next gen...line, i will definitely buy all that we have available from you here....

I have a final question, i do have time to wash my car on weekends, but here we have rain almost everyday, and the detailer is not to use in the entire car, just in the bug, spotted or contaminated areas....so, sometimes when i come from work just on monday, i have all my cas sides dirty, what do you recommend to me??...what i am doing is to leave it there until the hext wash and i will be waxing my car every month...is this good enough?? as you know the japanese paint work is very weak compared to others...and i am noting some swirls now in my car, i don“t want that..

            thanks for any reply!!!

              Hey,

I have used the 3M Paste Wax and still have a can of it on my shelf. It provides a decent shine, but compared to NXT, it lacks depth and rich gloss. Just IMHO.

                thanks!!! replies are coming bingo!!!

Thank you!! i was expecting replies, since i am on vacation, and now is the moment to get feedback and orientation, what i found is that the 3M was way better than the turtle wax platinum that i applied to the car out from the agency, that one lasted 3 or 4 days and no more protection......3M endured more...but as you say there is a lot to do before waxing, and i really need to know how to use the "detailers" to eep the waxed car protected between waxing...i'll wait for more to read!!! now i feel like being helped!!!... ....

                  also i must say...

also i would like to say that i got the endurance tire shining gel..and i am very satisfied with it's durability and it has a very glossy finish ..this product really stands fot it's advertising, and it is not the high gloss one wich is missintg frou your line here in Panama.....i am very happy to have you guys here!!!

For what it is worth, Turtle Wax is probably the lowest grade stuff you will find IMO.

Sure they have a new Platinum Serries, but they focus more on putting everything in green packaging and low prices than quality.

Like any product, Turtle Wax will protect your car and bead water too, but not for long... Stay away.

Also, never ever under any circumstances try their Vinal protectant wipes. They leave a film like vasoline all over your dashboard. Nothing will take the stuff off and I mean nothing. Luckily the stuff is of low enough quality the sun seems to be taking car of it for me.
