I have yet to have something not come off with APC!
It has removed tree sap, (with some timely rubbing and letting it soak) as well as bugs, and wax from plastic trim. I have followed up the APC with clay and it takes almost everything off the paint that I didn't want on there.
Originally posted by Aurora40 Also with clay, sometimes you need to change your approach. Clay across it at different angles and such. The clay may start to break away at it bit by bit this way. You'll almost definitely mar the finish and need to polish it with a light abrasive afterwards, but if it works when nothing else does...
It seems to work better when you go in various directions when using it. Apply a little more pressure too. Afterwards it seems like you have wet sanded it and needs to be polished. But I have yet to fail at getting anything off with the clay. It has also taken off paint from another car!
Hey Mike, I thought he was talking about a darkish circle to the upper left of his finger. I think the part you circled is just a reflection of his finger.

The above pic is it Mike. I have not tried ScratchX. I could probably pick some up today at Wal-Mart however. What are your thoughts on the Meguiar's Red Clay suggestion?
I have just soaked that spot with a damp rag for about 2.5 hours and then tried Meguiar's white clay. It had no affect what so ever on the spot.

Mike, what are your thoughts on using Red clay? I forgot to pick up ScratchX yesterday at Wal-Mart, but need to call in an order to Meguiar's anyways so I can get it there.

Just to double check, when you rub your finger over it, can you feel the problem?
To me it looks like a stain -->in<-- the paint and if this is the case your best bet is going to be a paint cleaner like ScratchX and just so you know, in some cases, not all stains in paint can be removed as it would mean removing too much paint.

Yes, I can feel the spot when I rub my finger over it.

As best you can tell it's something -->on<-- the paint?
I'm wondering if whatever caused this discoloration and imperfection has caused the paint to disform in this area? So maybe there is nothing really on the paint, what you're feeling is an area where the paint has swelled or something?

As best I can tell, it is on the paint. There are two other spots on the bumper that won't come off either. These spots are about the size of a pin head-so you really have to look for them & they are the same dark color.

Ok, my Meguiar's order came in today and I tried ScratchX & the aggressive red clay. Neither touched the spot at all. So am I most likely looking at some kind of paint blemish that has popped through or a very bad bug splatter? Do I have any more options I could try safely with a PC? Thanks for all the suggestions so far everyone!!

If your hand with ScratchX and/or an aggressive clay didn't remove it, it's highly unlikely a dual action polisher will not remove it either as now you're spreading your pressure out over a larger area.
