hello, i got a question

i havent bought my supplies yet but this is what im going to do

wash
clay
scratch x
dc 2
nxt tech wax
gold class wax?/nxt tech wax

i want to add dc 1, the paint cleaner, because i realize that i had already applied a sort of wax a while ago and i guess i sealed the contaminents instead of cleaning the surface first and i want to get rid of them. should i apply dc1 after scratch x or after claying or what?

ScratchX will remove any wax and other contaminants in and on the finish. If you were only going to apply the ScratchX to spot areas then do get the DC1 and apply to the entire car after claying.

yea im going to apply scratch x to the entire vehicle... since scratch x and DC 1 are paint cleaners, would that make the paint even thinner? just wondering...but thanks ill just opt out of DC1 and use ScratchX on the entire vehicle.

Not enough to worry about unless your car's finish is dangerously thin to start with. After you purchase the ScratchX, pour a little into your hand and then feel it with your fingers and post back here if it feels abrasive or if it feel like hand lotion and I think you'll understand, as well as anyone that has never used/felt ScratchX just how gentle this product really is.

2002 mustang...i have never done an actual detailing of that car so thats why i was wondering if to use DC1 as well..cant wait to start

If it is a daily driver meaning used all the time not stored in a show room, your paint will probably have the normal oxidation, swirls, and other problems.

If you do have swirls..., you will need something like #80 or ScratchX.

If your paint is pristine, use Deep Crystal.

If the factory clear coat is still intact, meaning no detailer named "Bubba" has taken a rotary to it with a wool pad and a heavy compound, then you are completely safe to use ScratchX as well as any other paint cleaner or cleaner/polish.

well i had several accidents with my car and i sent it to get fixed... when the guy repaired it he polished it nicely but it left little swirls not noticeable...and then again i sent it to get fixed and this time he did an excellent job...i asked him what he did he just said, clean, polish, wax...so im guessing im safe on the clear coat...ill just stick away from DC1...if i were to add it, it would be before applying scratch x right?

The funny thing is, as devastating as DC1 is to contaminants and other undesirables on/in the paint, it's as equally mild to the paint itself. Good paint is in no danger from DC1.

DC1 is as safe a paint cleaner you will ever find. After you use it one time you will see. It's a good tool to have in your detailing arsenal.

Usually you only need to use one paint cleaner, ScratchX and DC1 are both paint cleaners. Some people will use DC1 over the whole car and only use ScratchX where there are more serious scratches or other blemishes.

Well from my experience DC#1 is a great product to have. Every month its part of my process of doing a full detail its a good wax stripper and it does a good job at removing minute blemishes. ScratchX takes a trenendious amount of elbow grease a work a big area. Takes alot of time and effort. They are both good to have but, if your doing something as involved as doing the whole car then you need the G-100 or a PC and some DACP.
