Didnt someone say Nxt Glasser Cleaner smells like key lime or something I think it smells kind of weird, but it does work very well.

While you guys are kicking the subject of the NXT Glass cleaner around, I have a question.
I just had 2 windows tinted last weekend. They used the film type of tint and told me not to use ammonia based products. I don;t have my MXT Glass cleaner with me at the moment and was wondering if any of you have used the NXT on windows tinted with film? And if so did you do anything different than you would do with regular glass?
ThanksJeff Smith

Hey,
Yes, Meguiar's NXT Glass Cleaner is ammonia free and is safe for all tinted windows. Make sure you use the highest quality microfiber towels you have. Use only light pressure.
Also as explore_02xlt pointed out, make sure you allow the film to set-up before rolling down the windows or cleaning them etc...
Cheers!

Thanks guys
I waited 3 days before rolling them down. Used NXT today for the clean up. Worked like a champ. Use with meg's Duo-Fiber Glass Super Towel. Still using Rain-X window cleaner on the exterior just to make sure I have no compatibility issues with the NXT possibly removing or diminishing the Rain-X Original I like to use. Be nice to hear from those who might have some comment about that.Last edited by Jeff Smith; Sep 7, 2005, 07:43 PM.Jeff Smith

Any Glass cleaner degrades Rain-X.
Quite simply, Rain-X is a Polymer sort of a petroleum based product similar to wax.
It is dissolved by alcohol and or ammonia. Guess what the Rain-X suspension is alcohol with dissolved polymers.
Just thought I would let you know the only truly safe cleaner is water for Rain-X.
However, unless you pull out a strong ammonia product you won't remove much Rain-X with luck...
Just mist the widnows with distilled water and hit them with the microfiber. Montly or every two months, do a really good cleaning with Nxt and then apply a fresh coat of Rain-X.
That is what I do.

Thanks for the tip. I generally try to hit my glass weekly. Usually the distilled water does the trick. Periodially I use the Rain-X glass cleaner on the exterior if I have any serious spotting issues I have not been able to deal with quickly enough.
One thing I have learned when using anything other than the Distilled water. is to just barely mist the MF. Just enough to say you put something on there. Streaking is kept to a minumum and sometimes a final wipe with a dry MF isn't even necessary.
Another trick I have learned, as I do my detailing outside at night is to start the car and turn on the defrost. Warm the window up a tad then go for it. Really helps when trying to clean windows with the nighttime moisture otherwise the streaking is a monster.Last edited by Jeff Smith; Sep 7, 2005, 10:09 PM.Jeff Smith

i never knew cleaning windows would be such a task at times...
ive been using stoners IG for a while , but after hearing the good reviews on nxt glass cleaner i bought a bottle to try out, well this weekend i cleaned my own car, got to the windows, used the nxt(misted onto a mf towel) wiped the window down inside and out, flipped the towel over, buffed out the visible streaks, then i got the stiff neck look going trying to find streaks at angles, and sure enough, a lot of streaks and hazing, tried buffing them out again , but it seemed i would buff out some, and inflict more, this was at about 11:00 am east coast...i went back to the stoners which seemed to help getrid of the haze and streaking some, but they were still there... is there a specific kind of towel i should use to elimnate the streaking, certain time of day, certain technique or what, but lately ive been having one hell of a time getting streak free windows on my car as well as others, using nothing but the best and second to best window cleaning supplies and mf towels...the mf towels are a cheap walmart brand, but i dont see that being the problem, or maybe it is, but ide like to no have to spend so much time trying to get streak free results...
thanks"that car is dirty"

i wash my towels that were used over the weekend every week with tide liquid, and put threw the rinse cycle twice..so i am always using a fresh clean towel..as for the pics, i doubt i would have luck capturing the streaks, plus i need a new digital camera, as for now, all i have is a camera phone..maybe i need to go back to lint free paper towels or news paper as well, but i thought using mf towels i would get better if not the same results.."that car is dirty"

The "fog" you all are dealing with is just a natural gassing off of VOC's from the materials used to assemble the interior of the car.
If severe you may need to use something like ammonia diluted with water or a vinegar/water mixture to "cut" through the film and then clean in your ordinary manner.
My window and glass cleaner is a homemade mixture of distiled water/vinegar and/or alcohol and a drop of dish soap. I use two MF's, one to apply and another to buff.
Also, using newspaper USED to work great but now since they changed the ink (which is what polished the glass) to a water-based type it no longers works as well.

I have not had any streaking issue with Nxt Glass cleaner.
Here is what I do with the Nxt.
I spray it on the window itself. Then I use one Microfiber to move it around and remove contaminates...
I take another microfiber and do the final wipe with a fresh, dry microfiber.
Works perfect everytime. Try the Duo Fiber not the Supreme Shine MF.

The Duo is the best with NXT Glass Cleaner.
It does a supreme job. There are other glass cleaning Micro Fibers that are good too, but the Supreme Shine is not really intended for glass. It is ideal for removing waxes and use with Quik Detailer though.
