  • some one keys my car

Hi, newbie, I need help I have 2 cars and yesterday someone keyed them both while they were parked. It' s very frustrating. I just don't know how to make those deep scratch sort of invisible. I read it all through and found that you cannot remove or fill the deep scratch. I was just wondering how to make them less noticable. I read it in this forum that Meguiars suggest that it is possible to do that. I just don't know how to. I would really appreciat any help that you guys can give.
Thank you in advance, please post.
    Thank you,
    Nooruddin

If you can find a source for your factory color there are a number of suppliers that offer paint chip repair pens that you can use to repair the area.

Are you referring to collision insurance? I think it always comes with a deductible.

But every insurance policy that I've ever carried had an option for zero deductible, comprehensive coverage. And comprehensive insurance would/should cover this kind of damage.

I only pay $8.00 for 6 months of coverage. Course, it may be higher in some other locations.

I've used this type of insurance more than any other.

Edit: I forgot to mention that the age of the vehicle will affect the price of the policy too.

It depends on how much your deductible is......If I understand your question correctly.

It would pay all that read this post to examine their policy, and see if they have this type of coverage. I'm sure an insurance agent would be more than glad to examine it for you, since policy language can be difficult to understand sometimes.

                        Hey,

Sorry to hear that someone keyed your car! Man, that makes me angry when I hear that someone purposely damaged someone elses property!

Meguiar's ScratchX will help to soften the edges of the scratched/keyed paint making it a little less noticeable. Yes, going to the dealer and getting a color matched touch pen can also help to fill in the deeper marks. But I need to be honest, it is going to show up, and stand out. You may want to consider calling your insurance company and have the paint repaired. Sorry, just IMHO.

Thanks guys, you guys really help make me feel better about it. The fact that there is something out there that can be done to minimize the scratchs help. Ill try small fixes first and see if they make the difference and go to the dealer and check them out. Th last resort would be going the insurance. My deductables are bigh and I have no job at this time so that would be out of the question.
Thanks again for all the help, any other ideas will definatly be appreciated.

Well I spend about $3800 for insurrance yearly.

I driver 4 vehicles, but feel it is stupid to have to pay so much because i can only drive 1 at a time; therfore, I don't see much increased risk.

Anyway I have AAA and have complete comprehensive and Collision.

3 monts ago a windshild of mine got hit with a rock and I thought it needed replacement but they wanted me to get it fixed instead and had me bring it in for inspection. Sure enough it was fixable, but I didn't want that.

So, I helped the little dent spread by beating the window from the inside until I had and upper and a lower windshild.. I figure let them pay the $400 for a new windshild and get me for the deductible.

I really don't feel bad, nor do I feel this is fraud because it was sort of a safety issue, and I pay them much more than the price of the windshild each year, and have paid them easily $25000 over the past 9 to 10 years without any claims. I figure it is my due that they actually pay out.

I took it in for repar that day and the guy said, we can't fix this anymore it spread.

I was like, okay well replace it and bill AAA, so they did.
