  • Yellow Vette...opinions please?

Here's the story: I have a Millenium Yellow Corvette that has a beautiful shine, until one day when they were putting a pipe fence around my house. The "people" installing the fence pulled the auger out without turning the power off and slung clay all over my hood.

Long story short, I had the scratches buffed out by a body shop. He did a nice job and the shine is there, but when you look at it from a certain angle...yep...swirls.

I'm an NXT user, but I know it won't work to remove the swirls. What would you all recommend to use with a PC buffer? I know you start with the least abrasive, but honestly with all the products Meguiar's has (and fine products they are), I'm a bit confused!

Please let me know which way to go. Thanks for your help!

Working by hand in any nooks and crannies, you would want ScratchX.

For the rest of the car with the PC, you would want to start off with #80. It is the milder cleaner.

You should be able to do a panel, and see if it works. If not, then step up to the #83. It is stronger, but still quite safe, and should do the job quite well.

They are both cleaner polishes, but you can follow them up with a polish if you want, like #7 or #81, and then you wax of choice.

You may also want to clay first if you havent before, just to make sure the surface is perfectly clean before starting with the PC.

Why is this not surprising? Sorry to hear of your misfortune.

Read through these two links and like Murr1525 said, do a test spot with the M80 Speed Glaze first, see if you can remove the other guys swirls with a light cleaner/polish, if not you can alway substitute a more aggressive cleaner/polish like the M83 Dual Action Cleaner/Polish.

      Here are the two threads...

It's too bad this happened, both the clay that was slung onto the finish and the swirls instilled at the shop, take heart as everyone here on the forum will do their best to see you through to success!
