Hot Rims on Cast Aluminium

Hi

I have a 2005 Audi A4. It has "cast aluminium" wheels. I just bought Meguiar's Hot Rims today and I was wondering if you could tell me if it would be safe to use on my rims. The manual for my car says that an "acid-free commercial wheel cleaner for alloy rims" can be used. I could not find any other wheel cleaner at the store which is why I bought Hot Rims, but I just want to make sure that it will not damage my wheels (my car is barely a week old!)

Can anyone at least tell me if Hot Rims is an "acid-free" cleaner?

Well, your rims may be cast alluminum, but they're also probably clearcoated as well.

I would assume that the "Safe for all wheels" declaration is true to form.

I'm also guessing that they are clear coated and you should be safe using it.

I have used it on factory hubcaps and some BMW and Mercedes wheels and it has not caused a problem yet.

I find hot-rims to be relatively mild... it should be fine. I've used straight wheel-acid on some nasty cast aluminum wheels before without any negative results. The key is to not let the product dwell for "too" long, and it should be safe.

I have used it on clear coated, plastic, and billet aluminum. I have not used it on cast though.

At any rate, it has always worked well for me and not done any damage.
