  • Will the Clay Bar remove Wax

I have a black truck that I bought new. The paint was pretty much perfect. So far I used a clay bar and have two coats of NXT wax on it, which got it looking great!

I washed it and in the hot Oregon day I was not able to keep all the water from drying, despite my best efforts at keeping it wet. I think where I lost the battle was when I was drying it. Regardless, I got a few water spots on it.

I used the Meguiars Clay bar with some of the Quick Wax which removed the spotting. My question is, does the clay bar remove the NXT wax or am I ok?

    Thanks!

    Hi Dave,

The answer is "Yes". Claying removes anything on the surface including your wax. After you clay, the minimum you should do is apply a coat of wax so the paint is sealed and protected.
