OK we finally did the cayenne. It was one tough nut to crack!!!
It had allot of scratches in the paint that covered the finish evenly all over the vehicle.

Two hours of trying everything in my arsenal told me that I had a vehicle with SUPER HARD PAINT!
A wool pad with diamond cut hardly touched it even after 4 -5 applications. I have always thought that Meguiars needed a more abrasive product than diamond cut (maybe a #49 type product for modern clear coats??)
I decided to go a brand I am very familiar with, 3M. 3M has some very aggressive products. I choose perfect it 3000 rubbing compound.
The rubbing compound did "grind" down the scratches but at a price. It left the finish scoured and very hazy and SUPER dusty.
Here you can see the scoured finish --
DUSTY, DUSTY, DUSTY --
Now I had the finish in a "controlled scratching or abrading". At least now the finish was consistent and to a point where I could jump back to Meguiars.Last edited by Superior Shine; Sep 8, 2005, 05:57 PM.

We chased the compound with DACP using an 7006 maroon pad. This took out the haze and polished up the finish to a brilliant shine.
The results were stunning!!!!!!!!!!!!

This Cayenne almost kicked are bottoms! I charged the client for 4-5 hours of labor. We were there over 8 hours!!
If I had to do this again I would have had the vehicle delivered to a shop and I would completely have sanded the finish with 2000 grit sand paper followed 4000.
The finish is very hard. All the Porsches that I have done in the past have always had soft finishes. What a change.
Anybody have any offical info about the finish on this Cayenne??Last edited by Superior Shine; Sep 8, 2005, 04:44 PM.

Joe, your results look impressive and you've again shared some tips and techniques with our forum members, I'm not sure what everyone else is seeing according to their monitor and resolution settings but for me the pictures are so large I can't see the entire picture at once as I'm having to horizontal scroll...
Any chance of resizing them to a max of 600 to 700 pixels?

Hey I just learned how to buff properly, computers are going to take me longer to learn!!!
Pics are now re-sized!! ENJOY
**(edit. about 3 hours later-I made them big again)**
I hope I don't get banned from MOL for using a non-Meguiars product -
I wonder if the new PPG/Meguiar product would have helped me.Last edited by Superior Shine; Sep 8, 2005, 09:27 PM.
