  • my 2003 Chevy

Hello all, new to the site but REALLY into detailing vehicles(yes im new but learning). I bought this truck about two weeks ago. 2003 Chevrolet Silverado Ext. cab. paint seemed to look pretty good and cleaned up nicely....waxed with nxt generation once. Here is my question....should I leave this as is, or should I completely re-do the exterior? How would you all recommend..? Wash, dry, clay entire vehicle and use scratch x(few spider spots) than nxt gen wax? Any imput would be great!!?

I guess the correct answer is that you can do whatever you want... But here is a little explanation..

The 5-step system will give the best results, so doing as much as possible is best:

Wash: Quality wash like Gold CLass or Nxt
Clay: Quick Clay your vehicle... sometimes only the horizontal surfaces are needed, but if you havent before, do everything.
Clean: Fix trouble spots with ScratcHX, or do the entire vehicle with scratchX... though it will kill your arm. Then you can use DC#1 on the rest of the vehicle, and in the future.
Polish: You can polish the paint with DC#2.
Wax: keep using NXT wax, with 2 layers for best results.

As my car is a daily driver, I will sometimes/often use ColorX to replace the cleaning, polishing, and 1 waxing step, so it saves some time. And topping it with NXT looks great.

Incidently, you can certainly wait a week or two.. dont need to waste a fresh wax job.

And with ScratchX, esp on a big vehicle, you may find it best to do all 5 steps to half, or a certain part one day, then do the rest another day. Breaking it up can save your arm.
