  • G104 cordless orbital v. G100 Dual Action Polisher

Hi, my name is Nick and I have been detailing cars(by hand) for the last few years with Meguiar's products. I have to say that I'm very impressed. I was looking around the forums and found quite a few discussions about the advantages of the orbital buffer and the advantages of the dual action polisher. I was wondering how many of the professional detailers out there have tried the new cordless G104 model that meguiar's sells on their website. I'm a poor college student and i'm wondering if the $130+ difference between the two machines is worth it. I've never used any kind of machine to detail cars before so i'm a complete noob in that area. Thanks in advance and I love reading about all the tricks and seeing the great before and after pics.

    Hi Nick,

    Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

The cordless polisher can be used to apply a polish or a wax to a finish in excellent shape, but that's about it. It doesn't have the power to remove defects such as swirls, scratches, stains/etchings or oxidation. You can do more to remove defects using ScratchX by hand.

Once you have your car's finish in excellent shape and all you want to do is to apply a coat of polish or wax and then remove it by hand, you can use the polisher for this.

      Hey,

I like using the G-104 to apply a quick coat of wax if I am on holidays somewhere and there is no power cord around. But for removing light swirls or polishing in general, the G-100 is needed.

Looks like a neat item to have.

The cordless model uses the 6 1/2" pads I presume?

Yes it does. It comes with two batteries, charger, one W-8006 Pad and a nice bag. The unit does come in handy when on a trip when you want to apply a coat of wax/sealant.
