  • question about 'cross hatch' in paint.

I noticed that the 1/4 panel on the passenger side of my car has a "cross hatch" pattern. You can't feel it, but at the right angle you can see it and I'm not terribly happy about it.

I'll see about getting some pictures up, but looking for some advice... will probably end up wet sanding or dealing with it. (grrrrr)

.... it almost looks like unprepped fiberglass, but I bought the car "GM Certified used, Never been wrecked" so I really don't know why it looks like that.

    Hey,

From your description, it sounds like they either did not finish it very well in the prep stage or someone also could have wet sanded the area and did not properly buff out the sanding marks and 'tracers' from the sanding process. OEM paint can be as hard as nails to remove sanding marks from!

If you can get a good pic of the area, we will have a better idea which of the above your 1/4 panel has...

If the paint looks uniform over the entire panel, then it sounds like a problem under the paint in the prep work.
