I use Speed detailer very frequently in between washes and spray wax every 3rd wash or so. The other day, I was speed detailing my car, and a friend asked, "If you don't wash the car, doesn't it spread the dirt?" My answer was that SD is to be used on lightly dusty or slightly dirty cars, therefore the dirt is a non-issue.
However, it got me thinking; even the smallest particle of dirt can instill scratches. What does SD or QD do to the dirt so it doesn't scratch the finish. I've used both many times and know that it won't leave scratches (when used properly), but how?
My assumption is that the light cleaning action "lifts" the dirt so that it can be absorbed by the MF or terry towel. In addition, the high lubricity of the product helps to prevent scratches.
Any thoughts, additions, or corrections to the above?
